-The adjective "vanus", which can be translated as "empty."
-The noun " glory ", which is equivalent to "fame", "honor" or "splendor".

Vainglory is the petulance or presumption of an individual regarding his or her actions or self-ascribed value . The verb boast refers to this act of boasting.

The conceit
Vainglory, in short, is associated with exaggerated pride or a person's conceit over their own actions or achievements.
Suppose an experienced writer gives a lecture. In front of the audience, he lists all the awards he obtained throughout his career, provides information on the books he sold and boasts of having renewed the literature of his country thanks to his innovative style and his daring. What the writer, with this attitude, does is boast of his achievements. As can be seen, vainglory is not linked to the truthfulness or falsehood of the statements presented, but rather to the attitude that the subject demonstrates.
Vainglory in religion
Within the religious sphere, there is a lot of talk about vainglory, since it is considered that the person who continually highlights his virtues, his actions and possessions in front of others is committing an attack on values. It is considered that he happens to be someone who is not humble.
Specifically, the Bible is used to, based on several of its passages, expose that everyone from foolish sinners to the rich and famous can fall into constant self-conceit.
We can precisely state that there are numerous "celebrities" today who continually boast about their awards, their lives full of luxuries, their professional successes and even their physical appearance. For many, for example, someone who is continually boasting about everything he is and what he has is the Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. Precisely the fact that he talks about himself as the best player in the world or that he is constantly boasting about the luxury in which he lives causes him to arouse numerous antipathies among the population.
