Sanity

Prudence

Good sense is associated with prudence.

Sensatez is the quality of sensible (sane, prudent or of good judgment). Reasonableness, therefore, is associated with sanity, understanding, reasoning and prudence. For example: "The government put aside common sense and responded to the attacks with more violence" , "It is not in your best interest to expose yourself in this way, you have to demonstrate common sense in your actions" , "We need leaders who handle themselves sensibly and who do not squander the nation's resources .

The etymological origin of the word that concerns us now is found in Latin. Specifically, it is the result of adding two particles: the word sensatus , which can be translated as "endowed with good judgment" , and the suffix - ez , which is equivalent to "quality" .

Good sense, a value

Reasonableness is considered to be one of the best values that a person can have both for their own development and for their relationship with others and their role in society. Thus, it is considered to be a fundamental tool to be able to deal politely with other individuals.

There are certain ages in which human beings can be more foolish. Thus, for example, during adolescence our heads are full of "a thousand birds" that make us not behave with moderation , that we do not see things in an impartial way and that we are reckless.

Madness , recklessness and absurdity, in this framework, are the opposite of sanity (and, therefore, are linked to foolishness ): "The president is a foolish man who has alienated us from the rest of the world," "Juan tried to reason with Martín, but his friend's foolishness prevented any understanding."

Good judgment

Acting sensibly requires reasoning.

A book by Paco Alcázar

Within the field of literature we would have to highlight the book titled "Huracán de sensatez" .

This is a publication made in 2013 by the author Paco Alcázar in which various works are developed that answer questions such as "What things make God angry?" "Am I normal?" or "Why do old rockers never retire?" .

«Sense and feeling»

"Sense and Sensibility" is the translation of "Sense and Sensibility" , a novel written by the British Jane Austen and published in 1811 . The book tells the story of the Dashwood family following the death of Henry , the group's patriarch.

This work had several adaptations for television and film. The best-known film version is the film directed by Ang Lee and released in 1995 . Among the film's protagonists are Emma Thompson , Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant .

However, it should also be noted that several television series have been made about this work. Thus, for example, in the 1970s the BBC presented the first of them, which starred Joana David and Ciaran Madden .

The title of the story created by Austen is related to the behaviors and ways of being of the Dashwood sisters , who are forced to live in the austerity of rural life after the death of their father.
