Eagerness

Effort

It is mentioned as a desire for hard work.

Eagerness is a concept that can be used in different ways. According to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ), the term could come from afanar , a verb that can refer to dedicating oneself to work, to carrying out an activity with effort or to stealing.

Eagerness, therefore, can be arduous work , fatigue that derives from some action or a longing or aspiration . For example: “I apologize, I did it without any desire to bother you,” “Investigators believe that the murderer acted out of a desire for revenge,” “I worked hard for fifteen years to buy this house.”

A formal concept

It is a word not widely used in everyday speech, but rather present in the written language. In the first example, perhaps the noun intention is more common ( "I did it without the intention of bothering you" ), although perhaps it is even more normal to say "I didn't mean to bother you."

The second, for its part, can be part of a police report or a newspaper article, for which the use of more formal vocabulary is expected; If, however, it were part of a conversation, perhaps they would say "the murderer wanted revenge." We see that in both cases the term desire describes an objective that the subject wants to achieve; In the same way, the person who worked hard made an effort because he wanted to buy a house with all his might.

Examples of use of the term eagerness

Suppose that a young man who suffers a train accident loses a leg . After a first period of recovery, the boy intends to recover his normal life. That's why he works hard to learn to walk with crutches and learns to drive using one leg. He also begins to collaborate with an NGO that assists disabled people to tell his experience and help others recover. In all these situations, it can be said that the young man has shown his “desire for recovery” : that is, his desire not to be defeated by adversity and to continue progressing despite physical limitations.

A political leader, on the other hand, can be criticized for his “lust for wealth.” In this case, it is considered that the politician in question has no vocation , since he does not intend to contribute to the development of his community but, on the contrary, seeks to enrich himself. Thus, this person would use political activity only to make money.

Earnings

The profit motive is the intention to obtain a profit from an activity.

an aspiration

If we focus on the meaning of the term desire, which defines it as a very deep aspiration or desire to achieve a goal , we can say that it is often the desire to achieve our goals that moves us, although sometimes it leads us astray. . For example, it is common that in the desire to help someone we end up making their situation worse, simply by not having developed a consistent plan or by not having asked them if they really needed us.

Parenting is one of the most difficult and delicate tasks of our species, and it is not uncommon for children to reproach their parents for not having done things well, even when they act with good will. We can say, therefore, that very often parents make mistakes in their efforts to guide their children , and they get them to turn against them and do exactly the opposite of their wishes .

profit motive

According to some sources, it is possible to use the expression profit motive as a synonym for profit motive , profit motive or lucrativeness , which are defined as the desire to perceive an economic gain, an advantage or a benefit through a commercial activity or a venture, among other possibilities.

On the other hand, there are those who claim that the term eagerness adds extra weight or intensity, which means that this expression speaks of an attitude that is more focused on benefits than the others.
