Gluttonous man eating sweets

Zampar is to eat quickly and excessively.

The verb zampar means to drink or eat quickly and/or excessively . Note that this is only the first and most common meaning, since the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) recognizes almost a dozen meanings for this term, which comes from the onomatopoeia “zamp” .

Gluttony or gluttony

The act of gobbling is associated with gluttony or gluttony . Whoever munches eats food greedily . The typical anxiety of this action usually has a very negative impact on the digestive process. In some cases, it can lead to short- or long-term disorders, as well as complications as serious as appendicitis.

Note that, despite the possible consequences of eating or drinking in this way, this verb is used in colloquial language, with a generally comical character, as can be seen in the following examples: “I am so hungry that I barely reach my “At home I'm going to eat a whole pizza,” “How are you going to drink a liter of beer almost without breathing? It's obvious that you're going to dislike him,” “I plan to sit in the tavern and eat until they throw me out of the place.”

In the first example sentence, the speaker expresses that he feels very hungry, and that for that reason he will eat "a whole pizza ." This does not necessarily have to lead to said action, but it can be a comical way of expressing your desire to eat among friends or with people you trust. The sender of the second explains to his interlocutor that it is not healthy to drink large quantities of beer in one gulp, since discomfort will be inevitable.

The last example takes up the comic or not very serious character that we saw in the first. The sender announces that when he arrives at the tavern he will eat until they throw him out . For the owners of an establishment to force a customer to leave their facilities, the customer must commit an offense, such as assaulting someone or smoking inside the building; Staying until closing time, in fact, does not merit being kicked out either, but simply being told that the time has come to pay for the service and leave.

violent action

Zampar also refers to apply , tip or download . The notion is mainly used when something is thrown or thrown violently : “You don't have to hit a working machine; It's a matter of using your head and reasoning” , “The donkey kicked me as soon as I got close” , “Smashing a stone is never a good option” .

This is another meaning widely used in different Spanish-speaking regions, only in everyday speech. In the expression "zampar un hit ", the verb can be replaced by "aestar" or "tip", for example, so that it automatically loses its informal character and can be used in an informative text.

The same goes for "kicking a kick"; It is even enough to use the verb "give" for the expression to become formal and can be used in any area. Finally, "zampar un piedrazo" refers to "throwing a stone " at someone or something, with the intention of causing harm . This action is as dangerous as it is illegal.

In the expression "to take a hit", the verb is synonymous with "to give".
