Vote

Suffrage

The vote expresses a preference between different options.

Voting is the expression of a preference for an option . Said expression can be pronounced publicly or secretly, as the case may be. The term is also used to name the ballot, ballot or other object with which said preference is expressed or apparently explained before an assembly.

For example: "The official candidate won by gathering 62% of the votes" , "Gómez assured that the voting intention shows an irreversible trend" , "My vote is for option A" , "When the senator communicated his vote negative, a crowd burst into applause" , "The indigenous people were pressured not to cast their vote" .

Vote, synonymous with suffrage

The concept of voting is synonymous with suffrage , especially when it is linked to the electoral system that is responsible for determining the provision of public positions. Suffrage, in this sense, is a constitutional and political right that has two dimensions: active suffrage (all people have the right to cast their vote to elect representatives) and passive suffrage (the right to stand as a candidate to represent the rest of the community).

It must be emphasized that there are many types of votes. Thus, for example, we have the unique , the combined , the alternative , the multiple , the double or the limiting .

Stake

Whoever casts a vote chooses something or someone.

Use of technology

In recent years, and thanks to the development of technologies and their application to all aspects of the administrative field, the creation of the so-called electronic vote has occurred. We can define this as one that is carried out through the use of tools such as the Internet.

However, this term is also used to refer to the entire set of technological tools that are used to count the votes of a given count.

I vote in religion

Vow also has a meaning linked to religion to name the prayer with which something is asked of God , the offering dedicated to God and the promises that constitute the religious state.

"I wish for your speedy recovery.", "Priests take a vow of chastity to consecrate their lives to the Lord"«He sold all his belongings, took a vow of poverty and went to India to live among the poor»son ejemplos de este uso.

Other uses of the notion

However, we cannot ignore the fact that voting is also the name of different populations that exist throughout the planet. Thus, for example, in the Spanish autonomous community of Cantabria there is a municipality called Voto . This is located in the north of the region, has approximately 2,700 inhabitants and is characterized by having charms and attractions as interesting as the Cobrantes Cave , the Velasco house or the Palace of the Count of San Carlos .

In Costa Rica , for its part, we have to emphasize that Votos is the name used to refer to an ancient indigenous town that was the most important in the northern area. Rama was their language and their greatest prize was cocoa. And this food became the main resource they had to exploit as a means of subsistence.
