Social housing

Home

Social housing is provided by the State to people who do not have access to a house.

Social housing is a property that, in some way, the State gives to people who cannot access decent housing on their own. This means that the State can build social housing for residents without resources.

It should be noted that a home is a closed space with a roof where human beings live. Terms such as domicile, residence, home and house can be used synonymously with housing. Social , for its part, is that linked to society (a community of people who share a culture and interests and who interact with each other).

Example of social housing

Suppose that a group of families settles on the side of a stream, developing precarious huts with cardboard and sheet metal . These people do not have the financial resources necessary to move out of the settlement and rent or buy a safe and comfortable home.

To enable these citizens to improve their quality of life, the government builds a neighborhood of social housing and gives it to these people, who can rent the properties at a very low price.

Edification

There are governments that build social housing neighborhoods.

The case of Spain

The economic crisis experienced in recent years has meant that many institutions have had to react in order to offer social housing to the numerous families who have lost their jobs and lost their homes . Thus, agreements have been established, for example in Spain, between the autonomous communities and their respective cities to facilitate people's access to houses of this type.

As a general rule, in order to obtain one of these constructions, the corresponding application must be submitted and the criteria that are met regarding the established requirements must be presented. And these social housing are aimed, above all, at those who have been left on the streets, who are going to be evicted, those who are in danger of social exclusion ...

What's more, there are even numerous town councils, for example, in Spanish cities that have started to build social housing or even to rent other houses under that same definition. All in favor of ensuring that their neighbors have a roof under which to reside and can count on an optimal quality of life.

Social housing and the housing deficit

In the same way, we cannot ignore that banking entities from different corners of the world have not hesitated to carry out the creation of social housing loans. They try to help those who have a limited economy by lending them money so that they can buy a home or renovate the one they already have.

Social housing, in short, has the purpose of alleviating a housing deficit . While all human beings have the right to housing, the socioeconomic reality means that this need cannot be satisfied by many individuals. The State, in this framework, is involved to return that right. The construction and management of social housing is also a correction to a poorly functioning housing market , which leaves many people out.
