Villa

recreation house

A villa can be a recreational or vacation home.

In Latin is where we find the etymological origin of the word villa that we are now going to analyze in depth. Specifically, we discovered that it emanates from the term villa , which can be translated as "country house."

Villa is a term with several uses linked to different types of populations and certain particular styles of housing. In its classic sense, a town is a population that has some privileges that differentiate it from villages or towns , but that is not considered a city .

It is, therefore, a type of population nucleus that emerged in the Middle Ages . Artisans and merchants used to live in medieval towns, differentiating themselves from rural residents. Most of these towns managed to evolve both in infrastructure and in the number of inhabitants until they became cities.

Different uses of the term villa

A villa, on the other hand, is a recreational house that is located in an isolated place, generally in the countryside . For example: "The businessman retired to his vacation villa after closing several business agreements," "My boss's villa has a large number of wooded hectares and a large swimming pool."

In Argentina , the notion of villa is used to name the neighborhood of precarious housing and infrastructure deficiencies . The original concept spoke of villa miseria (coined by Bernardo Verbitsky in one of his books), although in everyday language it simply refers to villa.

The towns are usually located in or around large cities and are formed from migrations (with people arriving from different towns or countries in search of work).

Favela

In some areas, the neighborhood of precarious housing is called a villa.

Various expressions

In addition to all of the above, we cannot ignore that it is common in the colloquial sphere to use the term villa house . It is an expression that defines what the city council of any municipality is.

Likewise, there is also what is known as the university of town and land . This expression, however, was more typical of past centuries and was used to refer specifically to the set of neighborhoods that maintained a bond of union since they were under the same representation.

Of course, we cannot ignore the expression village worker either. This is used to refer to a man who works in the construction sector, specifically as a bricklayer.

The surname Villa

Villa is also a fairly common surname. Pancho Villa (a Mexican revolutionary leader who died in 1923 ) and David Villa (a former Spanish soccer player) are some of the personalities who bear this surname.

The latter is an Asturian athlete who served as a forward for the Spanish National Team, in which he is the top scorer in its entire history, and who played in the ranks of Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona and Valencia CF, among other clubs.

Among his extensive record of achievements, trophies such as Spanish League championships, a European Cup, a Club World Cup, a Copa del Rey, a World Cup or a European Championship stand out. All this without forgetting a series of personal awards such as the Silver Boot in the 2010 World Cup.
