Tic

Tourette

A tic is an involuntary contraction of muscles.

A tic is a convulsion or agitation that is produced by the contraction , without will, of one or more muscles and that is repeated from time to time. This excessive activity is reduced when the subject is distracted or when he makes an effort to reduce the frequency or violence of the movements.

Tics are more common in children between eight and twelve years of age, and it is common for them to disappear after adolescence. It is possible to distinguish between tics that arise for psychological reasons (with movements that, in the first stage, were repeated voluntarily) and those of neurophysiological origin (as in the case of Tourette's disorder ).

The tics of Tourette's disorder

This last disorder mentioned, Tourette 's, we can establish that it is characterized by the fact that those who suffer from it have a large number of tics not only on a physical or motor level but also on a vocal level. Likewise, it is necessary to emphasize the fact that the cause of this syndrome has not yet been discovered, although it is known that it is the result of a series of defects in various parts of the brain.

Various treatments currently exist for patients with this aforementioned disorder that some of the most important figures in our history have suffered, such as the composer Amadeus Mozart , Napoleon Bonaparte , the writers Hans Christian Andersen and Moliére , or whoever was Tsar of Russia Peter the Great .

The treatment of tics is usually based on special exercises to relax the muscles, psychoanalysis and, in some cases, the administration of anxiolytics. The objective is to minimize the person's anxiety level and look for the possible psychological conflict that is the starting point of the tics. Specialists emphasize that permanent corrections or challenges to those who suffer from tics should be avoided, as they are counterproductive.

ICT is also the acronym for Information and Communication Technologies . The concept is used to name techniques linked to the management and dissemination of information . Telephony, Internet , video games, digital players and computing are part of the ICT field.

These aforementioned technologies have become, for example, essential in many schools in Spain. Thus, the number of schools and institutes that receive the ICT designation is increasing because they have facilities and devices that allow their teachers to teach different subjects using them.

This in turn allows students to learn the corresponding subjects in a way that is not only more enjoyable and entertaining but also by having interactive activities at their fingertips, thanks to web pages or blogs as well as WebQuest exercises, up to a wide number of resources that will make it easier for them to understand the lessons and achieve skills.

The notion of ICT includes both the technological advances in these areas and the economic sector that encompasses them and the tools that seek to improve the quality of life of human beings .
