An intelligence test allows us to measure various abilities and aptitudes of a person.

An intelligence test allows you to measure intelligence through an estimated measurement of IQ . This type of procedure is also known as an IQ test , IQ test or IQ test .

It should be noted that a test is a test intended to evaluate certain knowledge, skills or functions . In this sense, the concept is linked to evaluations and exams.

The notion of intelligence , for its part, refers to knowing how to choose the best options available to solve a problem. That is why it is related to the ability to assimilate, understand and process information to use it appropriately .

Different types of intelligence tests

There are different types of intelligence, such as psychological intelligence , biological intelligence and operational intelligence , among others. Therefore, specialists have developed different types of intelligence tests, with the intention of measuring the various aspects of it.

As for the intellectual quotient or intellectual quotient ( CI or IQ , according to the English term intelligence quotient ), it is a number that allows one to rate the cognitive abilities of a subject in relation to their age group.

There are multiple intelligence tests that we can find to measure IQ and they are made up of a series of exercises and tests that are used to establish it. Specifically, we can determine that, as a general rule, the activities that are part of those are verbal comprehension , memory of figures, similarities, cubes, assembly of objects or image complements.

All this without forgetting many other activities that deal with arithmetic, vocabulary, codes or image classification. A very broad set of exercises, all of which will ensure that the professional who performs it, once the results have been analyzed, establishes a "general" IQ but also a more specific IQ such as verbal IQ.

Knowledge

Through an intelligence test it can be established whether an individual is gifted.

The average IQ

To carry out this establishment of the QI, you must thoroughly study the aforementioned results and also develop some notes thanks to the invaluable help of their weighting and a series of staggered tables.

The average IQ of an age group is 100 : if a person has a higher IQ, they are above average. Generally, the standard deviation in intelligence test results is considered to be 15 or 16 points. Those people who are above 98% of the population are considered gifted .

The WAIS, one of the best-known intelligence tests

Among the most famous intelligence tests is, for example, the WAIS ( Wechsler Adults Intelligence Scale ). In the 1930s, specifically in 1939, David Wechsler developed the same method used to calculate the aforementioned quotient between the adult population. From then until today, this tool, composed of two parts (verbal and execution), is frequently used with people who are between 16 and 64 years old.

Intelligence tests, in short, present a series of exercises that must be solved in the shortest amount of time possible. According to the positive answers given by the subject, an estimated result is obtained that measures their IQ.
