Tactic

Soldiers

Military tactics are a plan that seeks to achieve what is established by a strategy.

Tactics are the system or method that is developed to execute a plan and obtain a particular objective. The term is also used to name the ability to apply said system.

Tactics help to organize resources in pursuit of an end . In this way, the margin of error is reduced since spontaneous or unthought actions are minimized and what has already been practiced and trained can be put into practice.

military tactics

It is worth mentioning that the concept was born in the military field. In this sense, military tactics is the plan that involves the implementation of what is established by the strategy . These two words (tactics and strategy) are often used synonymously, although strategy is a scheme that is implemented to try to achieve objectives and tactics is the intended way to achieve said objectives.

For example: the objective of a war is to conquer enemy territory. The strategy may consist of laying siege to the region to prevent the arrival of aid, while the tactics used include specific actions such as bombing bridges or placing mines on roads.

Soccer

In sport, tactics are very important.

The concept in sport

Over time, the concept of tactics spread beyond the military field. Nowadays it is possible to talk about tactics in sports , in games , in negotiations and in the economy .

When talking about tactics in football , we think, among other things, of a certain arrangement of the players on the playing field, represented numerically as 4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc. In basketball , for its part, tactics are linked to certain plays designed by the coach to be executed during the game.

The game Tactical and Strategic Plan of War

TEG is the short name of the board game called Tactical and Strategic War Plan created in Argentina and launched on the market in 1976. It is based on a war confrontation that takes place between 50 imaginary countries, located in a planisphere very similar to the our. When a game begins, all the territories must be distributed among the players, who will occupy them with pieces of different colors.

Each participant receives a card (which they must not show to the others) specifying the objective they must pursue throughout the game. At the same time, there is a common goal which is to seize power in 30 countries. Whoever manages to complete any of these tasks first becomes the winner.

Differences between TEG and Risk

At first glance, it may seem like an imitation of the popular Risk, published by the current Hasbro in the 1950s; However, they present 3 very specific differences:

* in TEG, each player has a number of tokens to use on each turn equal to half the number of countries they have when a round begins (if the number is odd, the first in descending order is taken into account);

* TEG combat is based on a system of three dice to attack against three to defend, ceding victory to the defense in the event of a tie, which increases the probability of success for the latter. Risk, on the other hand, allows three attack dice against two defense dice, increasing the possibilities of attackers and, in turn, reducing the time of each game;

* Both products feature country cards with three icons : ship, cannon and globe. TEG allows you to exchange them when you manage to combine three of the same or one of each class and the number of troops to exchange increases with each exchange. In Risk, combining three different cards gives you ten armies; If all three are equal, however, the military hierarchy of the card determines the number of troops.
