Rescue

First aid

Rescue is also known as lifesaving.

Rescue is the action and effect of saving or being saved (to protect , to free one from a risk or danger, to ensure). The concept can refer to a bodily or spiritual rescue .

The first thing we have to do is establish the etymological origin of the term that concerns us now. By doing so we will discover that it emanates from Latin and more precisely from the verb salvare , which in turn comes from salvus . This word can be translated as "healthy or whole."

Salvage of the body

Body rescue, also known as first aid , refers to the physical help provided to someone in an emergency situation to allow their survival. This rescue can be provided spontaneously by one or more people, or in an organized manner by a professional service (firefighters, paramedics, civil protection, etc.).

Precisely in this line we have to highlight the existence of what is known as marine rescue , which is the entire set of actions that are carried out with the clear objective of ensuring the safety of all the boats and people that at that moment They are found in the waters of a certain place.

Thus, for example, in the case of Spain there is the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society which is responsible for undertaking the aforementioned work. So much so that its main functions are to carry out rescue and search tasks, control maritime traffic or fight against pollution of the coasts and seas.

To carry out these tasks entrusted to it, it has a large fleet of vehicles, among which we should highlight both maritime units, such as towing vessels or rapid intervention vessels, as well as aerial units.

Along the same lines, there is also what is called aquatic rescue , which is what lifeguards carry out on the beaches. Specifically, this type of rescue is divided into three specific areas: water rescue, water safety and preventive rescue.

Aid

Water rescue allows you to rescue people who are in the water.

the heroes

Physical rescue usually requires the intervention of various equipment or materials, such as ropes, ladders , boats, stretchers, mats or hoses, depending on the case.

Critical situations require great effort and courage on the part of the person carrying out the rescue. That is why it is common for rescue to involve the intervention of some hero , as in the case of the rescues that occurred after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York City ( United States ).

Spiritual rescue

Spiritual rescue , for its part, refers to the salvation of the soul . Whoever accesses spiritual rescue achieves that his soul is freed from eternal damnation, which includes torture and punishments after death and for all eternity.

The concept of eternal salvation depends on each religion . For Catholicism, the rescue of the spirit implies reaching heaven to spend eternity with God , something that is achieved when the person manages to free themselves from sins . Otherwise, the subject ends up confined to hell .
