Among the many subgenres that have been born or that have had rock as their origin, we could highlight jazz rock, progressive rock, punk rock, heavy metal, blues rock, country rock or folk rock. However, there are many other artists who are considered mythical figures within rock, in all its extension and aspects. This would be the case of the following groups:

The Doors . In the 1960s, this American group appeared on the scene and is classified as one of the most influential and important bands in rock. This is demonstrated by the fact that he has managed to sell more than 100 million records worldwide.

Pink Floyd . This is a key group within the so-called British rock that has sold more than 300 million albums , among which those titled "The Dark Side of the Moon" or "Animals" have stood out.

Queen . Mythical within the international music scene is this band that appeared in the 70s and turned its leader, Freddie Mercury, into a true icon.

The Rolling Stones . One of the most important rock musical groups in history that is still active is this one, which includes Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Rock as a style and movement

Rock has always been associated with rebellion and youthful impetus. In its origins, however, it appeared more associated with its high tempo, the amplification of guitars and dances. Over time, a rock culture began to emerge, with its own ideals and principles beyond music .

There are those who consider that rock should be a movement that confronts the system through the attitudes of its performers and the lyrics of their songs. For others, however, rock is nothing more than a style that is part of the music industry.
