A claim can consist of a claim or a positive expression about something.

Latin is where we can find the etymological origin of the term that we are going to analyze below. Specifically, it is found in the verb vindicate , which is the result of the sum of two particles: the word rei, which means "thing" and the verb vindicar , which in turn can be translated as "to avenge or defend."

Claiming is the process and result of claiming . This verb refers to protecting or requiring something to which one believes one has the right or to express oneself positively about something or a person.

For example: “More than ten thousand people have participated in the march to demand the right to choose,” “This law is the vindication of a struggle that has involved many people throughout history,” “I am not going to allow the vindication of a murderer on my television program.”

Vindication as revenge or claim

In everyday language, the notion of claim can be used in different ways. In some cases, the claim is a kind of revenge or reparation for some damage. An unemployed person who waits for the Minister of Economy at the end of an event and hits him in demand of all the citizens who have lost their jobs due to economic policies will be, wrongly, trying to do justice for those who lost their jobs. .

Currently, given the economic crisis that is affecting the entire world in general and some countries more strongly, many demands are being made. Thus, for example, in the case of Spain, every day there are numerous demands that different groups in society undertake with the clear objective of showing their disagreement with the cuts carried out by the government and of defending their labor or monetary rights.

March

A demonstration can be constituted as a demand.

Mass demonstrations

Among them, the demands stand out, in the form of demonstrations, being made by teachers who have seen their salaries cut and their work hours increased and who see their jobs in danger due to the promotion of private education. And the same happens with other fundamental social groups in Spanish society such as health professionals or firefighters, among others.

And all of this without forgetting the demands that citizens in general are making daily, showing their absolute disagreement with political fraud, health co-payment, high judicial fees or the cuts that affect retirees' pensions. And all these issues go against the better quality of life of Spaniards and the welfare state.

Vindication in sport and after an attack

Vindication can also be associated with the recovery that comes after a fall, loss or defeat . A soccer team that loses in the opening match of a tournament will seek vindication in the second match, which means that, if it wins, it will have managed to improve its image and, in a way, will have left the initial defeat behind.

The defense put forward by a subject who suffered injuries or slander is also known as vindication. A businessman accused in the media of fraud can issue a public letter reviewing his professional career and honorable life as a vindication.
