Plant kingdom

Floors

Plants with and without flowers are part of the plant kingdom.

Living beings that are not capable of moving through voluntary action make up the plant kingdom . Plants grow, develop, reproduce and die, but they have a very reduced or no capacity to react to an external stimulus.

As in most classifications of living beings into kingdoms , there is no scientific consensus about which organisms should be included in the plant kingdom. Many even doubt the convenience of the existence of this classification.

Plants with and without flowers

There are many existing classifications of the plant kingdom, although one of the most generalized is the one that establishes that it is divided into two large groups:

-Plants without flowers, such as mosses and ferns, among other wide series of species.

-Plants with flowers, which reproduce through seeds and most of which lead to the formation of fruits. This group includes everything from fir to pear, among others.

However, experts recommend that in order to carry out an exhaustive and clear classification of the members that shape the plant kingdom, it is appropriate to do so based on elements such as these: fruits, seeds, conductive vessels, leaves, root, stem, cotyledons... Thus, if we start from the presence or absence of these, a clear grouping of that can be achieved.

Human beings take advantage of the products of the plant kingdom in multiple ways.

Historical consideration of the plant kingdom

It should be noted, however, that the plant kingdom was already present in the first classifications of organisms . In Ancient Greece, a distinction was made between animals (those organisms that live and can feel and grow), vegetables (they live and grow, but cannot feel) and minerals (that grow, but do not live and do not feel).

In its broadest sense, today it can be said that the plant kingdom is made up of plants and the foods that are derived from them, such as fruits , vegetables , cereals and vegetables .

In addition to everything stated above, it is necessary that we discover another series of data of interest related to the subjects that are part of the aforementioned plant kingdom:

-Plants are autotrophic, except for some very specific species such as carnivorous or so-called parasites.

-They can reproduce sexually and asexually.

-They carry out the process of photosynthesis, which allows sunlight to be transformed into chemical energy, causing inorganic matter to become organic.

-The members of this kingdom are identified because they are the only beings capable of making their own food and because they do not have sense organs, although that does not mean that they cannot react to certain stimuli.

Importance of these species for humans

The plant kingdom, in this sense, is essential for human life. Plants are responsible for absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, for example. Man , on the other hand, eats all types of vegetables: chard, onion, potato, sweet potato, rice, corn, pumpkin, apple, etc.

Many of the fabrics used to make clothing and the wood used to build homes and furniture, among many other things, also come from the plant kingdom.
