A reform can consist of changing the shape of something.

Reform is the action and effect of reforming or reforming . This verb , for its part, refers to reshaping, remaking , modifying something, amending or correcting a person's behavior .

For example: "We started the renovation of the house two months ago and we have not yet completed even half of the works" , "The opposition candidate promotes a constitutional reform to prevent indefinite re-election" , "The renovation of the stadium requires an investment of more than thirty million dollars .

Different types of reforms

Reform is usually an initiative or project that seeks to implement an innovation or achieve an improvement in a system or structure. Said reform can be carried out on something physical and concrete (such as a house), or on a symbolic or abstract issue (a law , a mode of organization, etc.).

Renovating a home can include building a new room, changing the floor covering, applying paint to the walls and roofing an outdoor room, to name a few possibilities. When renovating a house, you can set different objectives: it can be a comprehensive modification , which includes a redesign and transformation of all its spaces; a renovation that aims to optimize or adapt the environments; or a restoration that contemplates the repair and recovery of the structure .

To reform legislation , meanwhile, the implementation of various mechanisms is required depending on the country or region. Generally, a broad social consensus and agreement between different political sectors is needed.

These types of legal reforms usually seek to modernize the rules in the face of the evolution of society. In this way, a review is carried out and those laws that have become obsolete due to the passage of time are replaced , thus proceeding to update the rules.

Martin Luther

The Reformation was a religious movement that caused the rise of the Protestant Churches.

The term in law

Within the field of law, the term at hand also acquires special relevance. And the concept of a reform appeal is used, which is one that is decided to be filed to request a judge to make a change to the resolution that has been made. It is important to emphasize that this process can only be carried out when the resolution is not a final sentence.

Likewise, there is also often talk of what constitutional reform would be. That is the one whose object, as its name indicates, is to undertake changes in the Constitution of the relevant country.

In the case of Spain , for example, two reforms have taken place on the Magna Carta of 1978 . The first occurred in 1992 and affected article 13.2 , which refers to foreigners in the country and more specifically to the passive and active suffrage they can have in it.

The second reform, on the other hand, was carried out in 2011 and consisted of completely replacing article 135 , which deals with the principle of budgetary stability, public debt and the structural deficit.

A constitutional reform involves a reconfiguration of the supreme laws of a nation. The usual thing is that it involves an institutional restructuring , with a redefinition of the social pact.

Thus, reform requires a legislative review that often leads to a reinterpretation or redefinition of certain issues.

It must be considered that this update , rectification or correction of the Constitution cannot be made by decision of the Executive Branch since it has multiple implications. Typically, its implementation requires a public consultation and debate among constituents who then define the approval or rejection of the changes by vote.

Adequacy

A reform can consist of an adaptation, a readjustment or a readaptation of something.

Energy and religious reform

Currently, what has been called energy reform has acquired special relevance. Under this name is the process by which the different industries in the sector are going to make changes both in terms of infrastructure and services. The objective of all this is that the citizen and the entities themselves are more satisfied with the results.

In the field of religion , finally, the Reformation (with a capital letter) was a movement that emerged in the 16th century and led to the creation of the Protestant Churches. In general, all movements that established some type of change in a dogma or in the organization of a religion are known as reforms.

The Protestant Reformation is considered among the most relevant events in Western history. It marked the emergence of new interpretations of Christianity and took power away from the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church , giving rise to the development of Anglicanism, Calvinism, Lutheranism and other currents of great religious but also political, cultural and social impact.
