Podium

A record is a mark that has never been achieved by anyone other than the one who achieved it.

A record is the maximum or minimum result in any activity . Generally the term, which comes from the English record , is used as a synonym for brand to name the best result in a sport or competition.

For example: “Usain Bolt holds the world record in the 100 meter dash” , “The Catalan team dreams of breaking the record for consecutive victories” , “He is only twenty years old, but many specialists believe that he will manage to break the defense record of a world title.”

Different types of records

A world record is known as a mark that has never before been achieved by a human being or by a team. It should be noted that this is a relative assessment, since it refers only to historical records and brands recognized by some association or set of associations.

An Olympic record , on the other hand, is the best mark obtained in the Olympic Games . This means that a mark can simultaneously be an Olympic record and a world record, but also that a world record is not an Olympic record and vice versa.

In some cases the peculiarity occurs that the same athlete has both records, even though the marks do not coincide. Jamaican Usain Bolt achieved the Olympic record in the 100 meter dash in Beijing 2008 , with 9.69 seconds . A year later, he set the world record in Berlin with 9.58 seconds .
