Anaerobic power

Physical exercise

Anaerobic power is related to the development of brief and intense physical activity.

In order to begin to analyze the meaning of the term anaerobic power , it is first necessary to know the etymological origin of the two words that make it up:

-Power derives from the Latin "potentia", which can be translated as "quality of the one who has power" and which is the result of the sum of three elements: the verb "posse", which means "power"; the particle «-nt-«, which indicates «agent»; and the suffix "-ia", which is synonymous with "quality."

-Anaerobic, for its part, comes from Greek and is made up of the following parts: the prefix «an-«, which is synonymous with «without»; "aero", which can be translated as "air"; "bio", which means "life"; and the suffix "-ikos", which is used to indicate "related to...".

What is anaerobic power

Anaerobic is an adjective linked to anaerobiosis (life that develops in an environment that lacks oxygen ). Anaerobic, therefore, is associated with a lack of this vital chemical element.

Anaerobic exercise is known as physical activity of short duration but high intensity , in which the metabolism of the muscles does not use oxygen in the exchange of energy . With this in mind, we can indicate that anaerobic power is the power of the human being to perform intense and brief physical activity.

Speed and endurance

This capacity is associated with the speed that the person can reach and the resistance of their muscles. A subject with good anaerobic power will be able to complete physical activities that involve high intensity in a few seconds.

The intensity of the exercises is usually measured according to the heartbeats per minute recorded by the athlete. When these pulses are more than 170 per minute, the exercise will be classified as intense and will require that the person have adequate anaerobic power to support it.

Abs

The speed of movement and muscle endurance determine a person's anaerobic power.

Anaerobic power and muscle strengthening

Specifically, we can say that anaerobic power is related to muscle power, muscular endurance and also speed. And when exercises based on it are performed, what athletes achieve is to strengthen the different muscles, rather than burn fat.

Athletes who carry out the discipline of artistic gymnastics are very good examples of people who perform exercises related to anaerobic power.

Intense efforts in short periods

In addition to all of the above, we cannot ignore the existence of what is known as lactic anaerobic training, which is based on intense efforts carried out in an interval of between 20 to 120 seconds.

Aerobic power, on the other hand, is related to the organic capacity to complete exercises that last at least three minutes and that have a medium or low intensity. An example of aerobic exercise is jogging: the individual, while doing it, has the possibility of inhaling and filling his lungs with oxygen. However, while performing an anaerobic activity (such as a sit-up), this cannot be done.

It can be said, in short, that anaerobic power shows the body 's resistance to developing an effort with a reduced amount of oxygen.
