Lightning

A ceiling light is an element that is installed on the ceiling and supports, protects and decorates a light bulb or lamp.

A ceiling light is a decorative object that is integrated into the lighting of a space. The term, which has its origins in the French plafond , refers to the ornamentation that is installed on the ceiling to support, protect or decorate a lamp or light bulb.

Although, depending on the country, the concept is used to name various specific objects within this framework, it generally refers to the lamp that must be installed transversally on the ceiling to hide the bulb and cables.

For example: “I bought a ceiling with Disney drawings for my daughter's room,” “We would have to change the kitchen ceiling, since it is very deteriorated,” “I like how the aluminum ceiling turned out in the living room.”

The simplest ceiling lights have a geometric shape, with square or round ones being the most popular. There are, however, ceiling lights with very varied designs that can be integrated into environments with different aesthetics and styles.

LED ceiling light

Currently, and for a few years now, what has prevailed in the lighting market is the LED ceiling light compared to the traditional ones. And it has a light diode that brings with it a significant number of benefits, such as these:

  • It manages to reduce energy expenditure by more than 50%, compared to traditional ceiling lights.
  • In the same way, therefore, it allows you to save financially and invest less in the electricity bill.
  • It is also identified by the fact that it gives the opportunity to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions that are released into the atmosphere.
  • It has a much longer lifespan than traditional devices.
  • It should not be overlooked that it is also a type of lighting that does not generate heat and also flickers, making it much more pleasant for anyone.
  • It can be programmed to create the desired environments and adapt to the needs of individuals at all times.

The term in construction

It is possible to highlight another use of the ceiling concept. In construction , ceilings are known as those elements that are used to create usable sectors, but that are not visible, under the roof . Generally, cables or pipes are installed in the ceiling that are necessary for the infrastructure of a building but which, for aesthetic reasons, are intended to be kept hidden.

To develop a ceiling, it is common to use metal profiles attached to the ceiling structure through galvanized cables. This is how the structure in question is formed to hide wiring, installations, etc.

In that case, we would have to say that there are two main types of ceilings:

  • Continuous ceiling , which is one that has a smooth surface and its structure is visible. It is used in both private homes and offices and even in premises of various types.
  • Removable or reticulated ceiling , which is a false ceiling. This, which is also known by the name of commercial ceiling , is made up of a structure composed of squared plates and metal suspension.
