Pass in football

Footballer

A pass in soccer consists of sending the ball to a teammate.

The pass in soccer is carried out when a player sends the ball (the ball) to a teammate in his team. It should be noted that the term pass has other uses beyond the field of sport .

Football , football , soccer or football , for its part, is a sport that pits two teams made up of eleven players each (ten of which are field players plus the goalkeeper). The objective is to score a goal in the opponent's goal. Among the various rules of football, the essential one is the one that prohibits field players from touching the ball with one arm or one hand.

Types of passes in soccer

Passes in football are developed in various ways. The goalkeeper, also known as goalkeeper, goalkeeper or goalkeeper, has no limitations when making passes when he is inside his own area, since he can pass the ball with any part of his body (including his hands). Field players, on the other hand, can pass the ball with their foot, knee, thigh, chest, shoulder or head, but never with their arms or hands.

Short passes are the most precise, since the teammate is close and it is easy to give him the ball. Long passes or balls , on the other hand, are more risky because it is possible for a defender to intercept them.

It should be noted that, in addition to those mentioned above, there are other types of passes in the field of football. So, for example, there is the so-called backward pass . This is a defensive class since the player, faced with the impossibility of sending the ball forward or due to pressure from the rival, decides to send it to a teammate located further back. In this way, he ensures that his team continues to have control of the ball.

Sport

There are many types of passes in soccer.

Other plays

In the same way, we cannot forget the one known as the pass into space . This is very striking, from the spectator's point of view, and allows creating great scoring plays. Specifically, it consists of a player passing the ball to a teammate, who will manage to gain control by avoiding the space that exists between two or more defenders of the rival team.

However, it is necessary to establish that there is a great classification of the different types of existing passes:

  • Depending on the distance : long, medium or long.
  • According to the trajectory : with spin or straight.
  • Depending on the contact surface with the ball : head, foot (inside, outside, toe, heel...)...
  • Depending on height : tall, medium height or low.
  • Depending on the direction : back, front, vertical, horizontal...

When the pass is sent from outside the rival area to the inside with the aim that a teammate can head the ball into the goal, it is classified as a cross .
