Wall

A wall is a vertical construction.

Wall is a term that derives from the Latin language, specifically from the word paries . Among the different uses of the term, the most common refers to the vertical construction that allows a place to be delimited or closed. Typically, each room in a house or other type of establishment has four walls, raised above the floor and covered by the ceiling.

For example: "Juana asked me to paint the walls of her room pink" , "We're going to have to call a plumber: a damp stain appeared on the bathroom wall" , "As soon as I have a little time, I'll go to hang the mural on the wall .

Development of a wall

The wall is the result of masonry work . It can be made of different materials, such as stone, brick, wood, plaster or others. Its height and longitudinal extension always exceed its thickness.

Although the notion of wall is associated with a wall of great solidity, the concept is also used to name the sides or sides of different objects. In this sense, we can speak of the wall of a piece of furniture or the wall of a mountain.

Painter

The walls are usually painted.

The concept in football

Within the field of football , the wall is a play performed by two members of the same team.

The movement is carried out when a player passes the ball to his teammate and goes forward to look for the return a few meters later. The second player (that is, the teammate who receives the first pass), therefore, has to return the ball to that position: «Messi and Xavi made a wall on the edge of the area that ended in a new goal scored by the forward Argentinian .
