Military

Army

A soldier is part of the armed forces.

Military is a term originating from the Latin word militāris that refers to what belongs or relates to the military or war . The concept, therefore, is used as opposed to civil.

The notion is linked to the members, facilities and institutions that are part of the armed forces . The military has the function of defending the sovereignty of a country and its territorial integrity, among other functions, for which they have weapons and the possibility of using force in exceptional circumstances.

Military concept

A person can only be a soldier when he or she is a member of the armed forces and holds a rank or degree within said institution. The armed forces, on the other hand, are under the orbit of the State and must respond to the constitutional authorities.

If the subject belongs to a private force or a non-state organization, he will be considered a paramilitary , even if he has weapons and has professional knowledge.

Hunt

Military aircraft are important in war conflicts.

Expressions with the term

Starting from this exposed meaning we would have to determine the existence of a series of terms that make use of that word. Thus, for example, there is what is known as military instruction , which is the entire set of teachings, both practical and theoretical, that are given to soldiers during the training phase and whose objective is for them to become in the most complete way and then address the functions that correspond to them.

On the other hand, there is what is called military architecture . Under this name there are countless buildings that were built to perform functions related to the army and similar. In this way, clear examples of this are barracks, air bases, defensive lines that are set up during a war and even certain fortifications.

Another term that is related to everything we are discussing is military service . It defines that which, as its name indicates, is carried out by a soldier or any other member of that field. In this sense, it must be stated that in previous decades in countries such as Spain, it was mandatory for all young men to provide this service for one year upon turning 18 years of age.

Likewise, we must not forget that we also find what is known as military order . This is a term that is increasingly out of use as it was used to refer to all the orders that existed and were made up of knights.

militarism

Militarism is a doctrine that postulates the primacy of the army in society.

Militarists, in this way, believe that the military is the only way to guarantee peace and the source of citizen security.

Support or promote a cause

It should be noted that military is also an adjective that allows us to name the action of appearing in a party or community , or of participating in a cause in favor of a certain project . For example: “Next season I'm going to join Deportivo San Jacinto,” “After serving in a revolutionary left-wing group for several years, the writer decided to move away from politics.”
