The etymological origin of the term militancy is found in Latin. Specifically, we can establish that it is the result of the sum of the following components of said language:
• “Militaris”, which was used to refer to everything related to soldiers and armies.
• The particle “-nt-“, which was used to indicate “agent”.
• The suffix “-ia”, which is equivalent to “quality”.
What is militancy
Militancy is the condition of a militant . A militant, on the other hand, is one who is active (who provides support for a cause or project , or who appears in a party or community ). The notion of militancy is also used to name all the militants of a certain organization .
For example: “The candidate appreciated the efforts of the militancy to disseminate the party's proposals throughout the country” , “The writer was part of the Socialist Party until he was thirty, although from that age he abandoned militancy” , “He "I dedicated many hours of my life to militancy."
The concept in politics
Militancy, as the behavior or attitude of someone who strives to defend a cause, can be developed through a political party, a non-governmental organization or even as an individual.
A political activist , therefore, is one who develops his or her militancy within a party. Generally, this militancy leads the person to participate in party events, to join committees or basic units and to disseminate the electoral proposals of their party to try to get their candidates to public office.
Militancy in Spain
Some time ago the term militancy was highly topical in Spain. And certain cases of political corruption have given rise to the leaders of some parties having found it necessary to suspend all those involved in those situations from militancy.
Thus, for example, in the Popular Party the aforementioned suspension of the numerous members who have been detained and investigated by the so-called Punic Operation, which revolves around alleged crimes of prevarication and money laundering, was carried out.
Classification according to type
Within political parties, it is common, in addition to everything nuanced, that actions are frequently carried out to increase the numbers of so-called youth militancy . And it is the way for young people to get involved with their country.
Social activism can be carried out through an NGO or other civil association. Typically, the activist is part of an organization that defends interests that the person considers important, such as caring for the environment or protecting animals.
In some cases, militancy can also be an individual behavior , without the subject joining a party or an organization. This, however, is rare as you will find it more difficult to defend or advance a cause without the support of a structure.

In addition to all of the above, we would have to emphasize that in Mexico there is a media outlet that uses the term that we are now analyzing in its title.
