Inexcusable

The first step we are going to take before fully entering into the meaning of the term inexcusable is to know its etymological origin. In this case, we have to emphasize that it is a word that derives from Latin, exactly it comes from “inexcusabilis”, which is the result of the sum of these lexical components:

-The prefix “in-”, which means “without” or “no”.

-The prefix “ex-”, which is equivalent to “out”.

-The noun “cause”, which is synonymous with “event that generates an action”.

-The suffix “-able”, which is used to indicate “that it is possible”.

Inexcusable is an adjective used to refer to that which cannot be excused : avoided, justified, forgiven. The inexcusable, therefore, is impossible to avoid or excuse .

InexcusableFor example: “I regret to inform you that we will not be able to meet tomorrow since I had an inexcusable compromise ,” “The president made an inexcusable mistake and now must take responsibility for its consequences,” “The treatment that the police give to immigrants is inexcusable.” ” .

Generally, something is said to be inexcusable when it must happen in any way or when it is inevitable . In the face of the inexcusable, excuses or detours are useless.

In addition to the aforementioned synonym, other words that act as such for inexcusable are inescapable, forced, essential, necessary and even obligatory. On the contrary, among its antonyms we find terms such as excusable, accidental, dispensable, unnecessary, avoidable, voluntary or revocable.

The Minister of Security of a country, in this context, affirms that his commitment to the fight against drug trafficking is inexcusable. The official, in this way, expresses that there is nothing that can keep him from that battle, since he considers that confronting drug traffickers is a priority in his management. There is no other problem that justifies the minister neglecting the prosecution of those who sell illegal drugs.

In the field of Law we have to establish that we are talking about what is known as an inexcusable duty. We can establish that it is a personal and public duty that workers have to not go to their workplace because they have had to carry out an obligation, the failure of which would have meant having to face criminal or administrative liabilities.

Specifically, among the cases that are considered an inexcusable duty, we can highlight some such as attending a driver's license exam or renewing it, attending a medical appointment, attending a meeting of a governing body of which one is a member as a parliamentarian. or councilor...

The inexcusable can also be unforgivable due to its characteristics. Suppose the final of a very important soccer tournament is being played. In the last minute of the game, when the score is tied without goals, a defender tries to make a risky play in his own area, a maneuver that is totally unnecessary given the context. The footballer ends up losing the ball ridiculously, allowing an opponent to score easily. His team, therefore, loses the match and is left without the title. For sports journalists, the player's failure is inexcusable : the athlete made a terrible decision, underestimating the opponent and meaninglessly overestimating his own ability.
