The year is divided into four seasons.

Season is the name given to each of the four parts into which a year is divided. The term comes from the Latin statio .

The four seasons are summer , autumn , winter and spring . Each of them lasts three months , although the dates of its start and end will depend on the point on Earth where you are (northern hemisphere or southern hemisphere).

Seasons and weather

According to latitude and altitude, the range of meteorological changes is considerable: there are slight ones, in low tropical areas , and also very intense ones, which occur in the middle latitudes. The different periods that can be seen in these parts of the planet are the seasons, which share a certain number of characteristics with each other and which directly impact living beings.

It is possible to divide the year in other ways. In some regions and cultures, there are only two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season , differentiated according to the rainfall regime.

It is worth mentioning that the variations in the Earth's climate , one of the main causes of the existence of the four seasons, are more appreciated in temperate and low-temperature zones than in tropical zones, where it is more difficult to perceive them. Spring and summer represent the period of the year during which the days are longer than the nights; Likewise, throughout the fall and winter, exactly the opposite occurs.

The inclination of the earth's axis

The reason for these climatic variations is found in the tilt of the Earth's axis ; From this it follows that the Northern hemisphere , also known as boreal , and the Southern, southern hemisphere, receive the seasons at different times of the year (it is an inverse relationship: summer coincides with winter and spring coincides with autumn).

During the time in which the axis of the North Pole has an inclination towards the Sun, which results in the areas near the former receiving greater radiation than those at the opposite pole. As expected, there comes a time of year when the situation is reversed, and the northern hemisphere must endure the lowest temperatures.

Railway

The space where a means of transport stops is called a station.

"The four seasons"

In the field of academic music, " The Four Seasons " is the name of a set of four concertos created by Antonio Vivaldi , one of the most outstanding Italian composers in history, born in the 17th century in Venice .

The music of these four works, written for violin and orchestra, uses various sound resources to recreate each of the four seasons of the year , and does so in an exceptional and memorable way. Unfortunately, this is one of the few titles associated with Vivaldi , despite having left behind countless different compositions, spanning vocal and instrumental music, including dozens of fantastic operas.

The term associated with transportation

Another use of the concept is associated with the place where vehicles on bus, railway, tram, etc. lines stop . The station is also the building at the stop where the offices and departments are located.

For example: “Excuse me, how long until the next station?” , “We have to get off at the San Benito station and then walk three blocks” , “I'm going to eat something at the station before getting on the train” .

Other uses of the station concept

Radio stations , for their part, can be called stations: “My grandfather's favorite station is the one where they play tangos all day long,” “I'm very happy: I got a job as an announcer at the station in my neighborhood.” ” , “It is rare that a radio station does not offer the possibility of tuning into it via the Internet” .

In some parts of the world, the point of sale of fuels and lubricants for vehicles is called a service station . It is common for these stations to also sell other products through minimarkets.

Station, finally, is each of the altars that are part of the route of the Via Crucis .
