The Greek word entelécheia came to late Latin as entelechīa , which in our language became entelechya . The first meaning of the concept mentioned by the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) in its dictionary refers to something that is unreal .
For example: "The government's economic program is an entelechy: in reality, the president is making irrational and impulse decisions" , "The popular fervor for the singer is an entelechy promoted by his representative to raise his price" , "The project "Solidarity was nothing more than an entelechy designed to raise funds."
An entelechy, in this sense, can be a speculation , a supposition or a conjecture . Suppose an individual begins to imagine what his life would be like if he had made other decisions (studied a different career, married someone else, etc.). These thoughts are entelechies and no longer have real support: that is why the results of these imaginative processes have no existence.
Aristotle also resorted to the idea of entelechy in the development of his philosophy . For the Greek, an entelechy is a kind of existence in which something actively works on itself to achieve an end that is intrinsic to it.
It can be said, therefore, that an entelechy is an objective that completes an entity since its achievement implies the development of all its potentialities.
