Tasting

A wine tasting allows you to examine the flavor, aroma and appearance of the drink.

The dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) recognizes several meanings of the term tasting . The first meaning mentioned refers to the act and result of tasting .

The verb catar , meanwhile, comes from the Latin word captāre , which can be translated as “search” or “take” . The action of tasting consists of trying a food or drink with the aim of inspecting and analyzing its flavor .

Tasting, in this way, is the process of tasting. The term also refers to the portion of what is tested.

The wine tasting

Wine is a product that is often tasted. The tasting consists of tasting the drink using the palate to capture all the nuances of its flavor, but also the sense of smell to perceive its aromas and even the sight to contemplate its appearance.

Wine tasting requires much more than pouring it into a glass. The practice should be carried out in an odor- free, well-ventilated environment with adequate lighting. To encourage the concentration of the tasters, it is even recommended that the room be quiet.

The importance of the cup

It is key that the glasses used in wine tasting are colorless and transparent since the idea is that the person is able to contemplate the brightness and color of the drink.

The tasting glass is also known as a catavino . It should be mentioned that many winemakers maintain the importance of choosing the appropriate glass according to the type of wine to be tasted.

In this framework, if the wine is young, the glass must be large to facilitate the recognition of its spectrum of flavor and aroma . At a general level, care must be taken to ensure that the width, height and shape of the glass contribute to the proper distribution of aromatic substances.

Step by step of a tasting

The tasting begins with the visual phase : appealing to sight , the taster must tilt the glass on a white background and contemplate the colors. Then comes the olfactory phase , which leads to placing the nose inside the glass to inhale and perceive the aromas. This process must be repeated after swirling the wine in the glass several times in order to promote the release of those less volatile compounds.

Finally comes the taste phase , which involves tasting the wine. Specialists recommend keeping the liquid in your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing it so that it is possible to capture the consistency, texture and other characteristics.

Slingshot

The term cata can also refer to a rubber band or slingshot.

a slingshot

In some regions, the term cata refers to the portable weapon also called slingshot , slingshot , rubber band , china or slingshot . It consists of a fork or frame in the shape of the letter Y , where two elastic bands or ropes are tied to support a base .

To throw a stone , you have to place it on said base, stretch the bands back and release them. In this way the projectile is fired.

It is traditional for children to use catas to hunt birds . However, it is important to educate children so that they understand the importance of taking care of animals and not attacking the lives of any species for fun.

The tasting like a parrot

Another meaning of tasting refers to a parrot or a parakeet . This means that the term can be used to name this type of birds .

Both parrots and parakeets are similar to parrots , generally presenting green plumage .
