Some coffee makers are not machines, but rather containers designed to make coffee by placing them on the fire.

A coffee maker is a device or container used to serve or prepare coffee . Coffee , meanwhile, is the drink obtained through the infusion of the toasted and ground seed of the tree called coffee tree .

It is important to note that the concept of a coffee maker has other uses. As an adjective, coffee maker and coffee maker allow us to name what is linked to coffee in general; to the individual who drinks coffee regularly; to the person who works in a coffee plantation; to the coffee seller in public spaces; and the owner of a cafeteria .

Percolator

The filter coffee maker, also known as a drip coffee maker , is one of the most common coffee preparation machines. It works by pouring hot water over ground coffee in a paper or metal filter, then dripping it into a carafe that may be thermal.

Main features:

  • easy to use and clean;
  • ideal for making large quantities of coffee in one go;
  • allows you to adjust the intensity , quantity and extraction time;
  • Some models have programmable functions and timers.

Piston coffee maker

The piston coffee maker (or French press ) is a popular option for those who prefer a coffee with a full body and intense flavor. It uses the principle of infusion to extract the flavors of the coffee.

Main features:

  • It consists of a glass or metal cylinder with a plunger that has a filter at the bottom;
  • the resulting coffee has a fuller flavor due to the prolonged contact of water with ground coffee;
  • It is portable and requires no electricity, making it ideal for travel and camping.
  • Espresso coffee maker

    The espresso machine is known for producing concentrated and intense coffee. It uses pressure to force hot water through finely ground coffee, resulting in a quick and complete extraction .

    Main features:

    • uses high pressure pumps (around 9 bars);
    • The result is a concentrated coffee that is used as a base for a variety of drinks such as cappuccinos and lattes ;
    • They can be manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic, with different levels of control and convenience.

    History

    The history of the coffee maker goes back several centuries . Over the years, the process of brewing coffee has evolved from rudimentary methods to the sophisticated machines we know today.

    Coffee originates from Ethiopia , where it has been consumed as a drink since ancient times. In the 13th century, knowledge of coffee spread across the Arabian Peninsula and it came to be prized for its flavor and stimulant properties. The Arabs developed a method of roasting coffee seeds and preparing a drink called "qahwa." This drink became popular in the region and the first coffee establishments began to emerge.

    Espresso coffee maker

    The espresso machine is one of the most popular.

    At the beginning of the 19th century , the first vacuum coffee maker appeared. This revolutionary innovation allowed negative pressure to be used to create a partial vacuum in a container , forcing hot water to rise up a tube and mix with the ground coffee at the top. After a time of infusion, the heat was removed and the filtered coffee descended into the lower container. This method provided cleaner, better tasting coffee.

    In 1901, Luigi Bezzera patented the first espresso machine in Italy. This machine used pressure to force hot water through the ground coffee faster than traditional coffee makers. Later, automatic coffee makers arrived, which made it easier to prepare coffee at home. Current models include features such as programmable capacity, brewing via coffee capsules, and connectivity to smart devices.
