Search

Google

A search allows you to find information on the Internet.

Search is the action of searching . This verb ( search ) allows us to name the action of doing something to find someone or something, doing what is necessary to achieve a goal , going for a person to take them somewhere or provoking certain reactions in them.

For example: “The search for the woman who disappeared a month ago has not yet yielded any positive data” , “You can't stay crying all day: you have to get up and go in search of your dreams” , “In half an hour I'll spend in your search so let's go to the party together” , “Your search will be successful and you will find me: better, be careful with your words” .

We speak of inner search to refer to the mental process that aims to understand oneself, find the reasons for certain traumas or the strength to face a certain undertaking, among other possibilities.

Internet search

In the Internet , a search is the action carried out in an engine (called a search engine ) with the aim of finding certain files or documents that are hosted on web servers .

The user must enter terms or phrases (known as keywords ) into the search engine so that it presents a page with results: “The search for the new album was unsuccessful: I think it is not yet available on the Web,” “When I I logged in to find the name of the book, the search returned dozens of different results.”

Although searching a computer network necessarily finds files of different formats, the experience that the industry tries to provide to the user avoids technicalities so that it seems that they are exploring a great book, an encyclopedia of incalculable dimensions that contains the tools to satisfy a large percentage of the intellectual needs of today's life.

Although it is presented in different ways, and despite the differences in the technology used by each search engine, those who have used computers regularly before the birth of the Internet surely searched for files many times before knowing and taking advantage of the Yahoo! services or Altavista , two of the first online search engines.

Changes throughout history

Throughout the short but intense history of the Internet, searches have acquired great importance, despite having been ignored by many at first. It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of the 90s there were not so many similar sites, and that people came to certain portals on the recommendation of their acquaintances. But the growth of the Internet made it necessary to have a way to explore its nooks and crannies on our own to find what we need, as if it were a large library.

Google is the most famous search engine of the moment and, in large part, owes its success to the series of technological innovations that the company of the same name has been incorporating year after year. One of its most useful features is to try to guess what your users want to search for before they finish entering keywords; This is achieved thanks to the large amount of information it constantly collects, which is why many are afraid to use its services. It is important to remember that Google has Gmail , YouTube and Blogger , among other platforms, and that it can monitor the activity of all its clients to get to know them better.

Search and rescue

The operation carried out in emergency situations is known as search and rescue .

The usual thing is that it is carried out in places that are difficult to access when there are people lost, injured or sick: "The Gendarmerie announced the launch of a search and rescue operation to find the mountaineers lost on the hill."
