Bench

parliamentary bloc

A caucus is formed with legislators from the same political party.

Bench is a term with seven meanings in the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ). The most common use of the concept occurs in the field of politics .

The group formed by the legislators of a certain party is called a caucus. Thus, in a Parliament where different parties are represented, there are several benches.

Characteristics of a bench

The bench is also known as a parliamentary group , parliamentary faction or bloc . The criteria for the establishment of these groups vary depending on the country, although generally the bench is always constituted in a formal way.

The basis for the formation of a caucus is party or political affinity . In other words: the members of a caucus belong to the same party or, at least, share political or ideological principles.

Sometimes, the operation of the banks is regulated by rules . The intention is to promote coordination for decision making. Thanks to this type of rules, a bench regime is established.

Functioning of a parliamentary group

Beyond the differences depending on the nation , it is usual for the members of a group to vote in a unified manner . To this end, they meet periodically and hold internal sessions. If it is a matter considered “of conscience” , legislators are free to vote individually.

The groups have a president who is responsible for coordinating and, if necessary, directing the group. They also have a spokesperson or spokesman . On the other hand, when presenting a bill , the bench in question has to choose a rapporteur .

It is interesting to mention that, just as legislators congregate in caucuses, the caucuses themselves can group together. This is how so-called interblocks are created.

Mechanics

One of the lower parts of an engine is known as the bedplate.

bench in the marina

In the field of the navy , the bench that serves as a seat for the rowers is called a bench. It is a type of board that, in the boat, extends from one side to the other.

There are different types of benches, which are usually made with light materials . In some boats, the benches are fixed, while in other boats they are lifting. In the case of inflatable boats, they may have benches that fold and then remove.

part of an engine

If we focus on the mechanics , the bench is one of the lower sectors of the engine . This part provides support to different moving parts and helps contain oil.

The bench contains the crankshaft . The engine block is located on it, while the crankcase is screwed to its lower area.

The design of the bed depends on the structure and power of the engine. By fulfilling a structural function and having to withstand significant forces, it must be very resistant.

Due to its resistance , the bench - which is built in a single metal piece and has transverse and longitudinal beams - is not usually damaged. However, the rubber supports that connect it to the car can break down. The seals can also deteriorate, leading to a loss of fluids.
