Wiring

The purpose of fencing is to prevent strangers from entering private property.

The Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ), in its dictionary, recognizes the term alambrado as a synonym for barbed wire and wire fence . In both cases, the concepts are associated with wire : the metallic thread obtained by drawing (a process that consists of passing a metal through a spinneret).

Block entry

A fence, therefore, can be a fence that is made of wires and supported by posts . Fences are used to close a piece of land or property , preventing entry.

Steel wire is usually used, while posts can be made of metal, concrete (concrete) or wood. In rural areas, fences are used to enclose livestock and delimit fields , for example.

Fences also have other uses. Sometimes barbed wire is used to guarantee the security of an enclosure or property, something that can be dangerous for the owners if not treated with due attention. Another measure used to enhance the protection of buildings is the use of electrified fences (also called simply electric ), which is even more dangerous since it emits shocks to whoever touches it, without discriminating the owners from potential thieves. to adults from children or pets.

In football stadiums , meanwhile, wire fences are usually installed so that the public cannot access the playing field. As a synonym for wire mesh, fencing can be the wire net that is installed in a window, placed over lit braziers, or covers food to optimize its conservation.

Unwire

A fence protects private property . That is why communism and socialism tend to propose desalambrar , a verb not recognized by the RAE but which is used in reference to removing wires or fences. In this sense we can mention the song “A desalambrar” , composed by the Uruguayan Daniel Viglietti and popularized by the Chilean Víctor Jara .

Marco Bechis film

In 1990, a film produced jointly by Argentina and Italy titled Alambrado came to the cinema, under the direction of Marco Bechis , who also co-wrote the script along with Lara Fremder . It is worth mentioning that the argument also belongs to Bechis. Although the Argentine production company Oscar Kramer SA participated in the production, the film was not released commercially in its country, something that journalist Adriana Schettini commented in the newspaper Página 12 with astonishment. The other two production companies were Aura Film and RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana , both from Rome.

The main figures in Alambrado 's acting cast are, in alphabetical order, Martín Kalwill, Jacqueline Lustig, Arturo Maly and Matthew Marsh . In short, we can say that the story shows us the life of a man and his two children living in Patagonia at a time that disrupts the stability they had until then, because someone makes them an offer to buy their land and use it in the construction of an airport. In the words of presenter Luciano Monteagudo , the choice of landscape was a great success, since it accentuates the style of the film and favors the narrative.

The film Alambrado was nominated at the Lorcano Film Festival and at the Nantes Tricontinental , for the Leopardo oro and Montgolquiere de oro awards, in 1991 and 1992, respectively. The director, for his part, earned a nomination for the Best New Director Award , from the Italian National Union of Film Journalists , in 1993, but won only the Grand Coral at the Havana Film Festival that same year, where obtained third place.
