View

Eye

Sight is the sense that makes it possible to perceive bodies through the eyes.

The first thing we are going to do, before entering fully into clarifying the meaning of the term view , is to determine its etymological origin. Specifically, we can say that it derives from Latin, specifically from visus , which can be translated as "seen" and which in turn emanates from the verb videre (to see).

Sight is the sense that allows, through light , to perceive bodies with the eyes. It is one of the five senses of the human being along with taste , touch , smell and hearing .

How vision works

When light rays reach the eyes , sight is able to interpret them. The eyes are the organs that receive light impressions on the retinas and are then responsible for their transmission to the brain through the optic pathways. The process and result of seeing can be named sight or vision .

For example: "The sun's reflection affected my vision and I ended up crashing," "Since I was born I had poor eyesight, that's why I always wore glasses," "A blind man regained his sight thanks to the implantation of a chip."

Among the animals considered to have the best eyesight are the Australian mantis shrimp , the eagle and cats . When it comes to night vision, however, it is established that the species that have it best are hyenas, owls, and even some snakes.

Window

The landscape or beautiful environment that can be seen from a specific place is called a view.

The visual field and the landscape

The idea of vision is also used in reference to the possibility of having a large field of vision or of appreciating something that is considered beautiful .

«The watchman climbed the tower to have a better view», «The view from the balcony is amazing: you can see the entire bay» y «From the viewpoint there is a privileged view» son algunas expresiones que muestran estas acepciones.

Phrases with the term view

The expression "see you" , on the other hand, is used as a greeting and is linked to the possibility of a future meeting between two or more people: "See you!" I'll wait for you next week here, at this same time .

Phrases like "at first glance" or "at first glance" allude to a superficial observation, which lacks depth : "The doctor said that, at first glance, there is no bone injury," "At first glance, I could say that the man committed suicide by jumping from his bedroom window into the void .

In cinema we find films that use expressions like these in their titles. A clear example is the film "Hasta la vista" , which was released in 2011 and is directed by Geoffrey Enthoven . It revolves around a group of young people with different disabilities and illnesses who dream of embarking on an adventure together and without the company of anyone else. The objective of that trip is none other than to discover love and sex.

In addition, there is also the feature film "At First Sight" , which was presented in 1999 and which stars Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino . It was directed by Irwin Winkler and tells the love story that is established between a blind masseuse and an architect. A relationship that will be so strong that together they will do everything they can for him to regain his vision.

Vista , finally, is a version of the Windows operating system that Microsoft released in 2007 .
