Bonding

Nexus

The idea of connection can refer to a nexus, an association or a relationship.

Linking comes from the Latin ligatĭo and refers to the action and effect of linking (binding something to something else, perpetuating something, subjecting someone's behavior to that of another person, holding, securing).

For example: “We have not found any connection between the accused and the victim” , “I was able to join the company thanks to my father's connection with the manager” , “Pedro gets free tickets to all the concerts since he has connections in the theater.”

A nexus

Linking can be associated with relationship , association or union . Two people or things are linked when they share some type of connection and there is something in common. Some connections are symbolic or spiritual, while others are constituted through material means.

A man may have an emotional connection with a friend who lives in another country, thousands of miles away. It is not necessary for these people to meet or see each other personally for the link to exist. On the other hand, that same man may not have a relationship with another person who lives next to his house. This means that bonding sometimes has nothing to do with proximity or physical contact.

In this specific case, it must be emphasized, for example, that when a police investigation of any crime is being carried out, those in charge of the matter proceed to thoroughly study each and every one of the links that exist between the people involved. They do it with the clear objective of being able to find the culprits and discover what led them to commit such an act.

Property Binding

In addition to all this, it must be established that during the Middle Ages a term and a situation was developed that was called the property linking process. With it, what was achieved was that specific land or assets were always associated with a family, since they would be passed from generation to generation by all its members.

In this way, what was achieved was not only that they always remained within a specific family unit but also that they could not be sold or, of course, divided among several people.

But this type of process also referred to other sectors. Thus, for example, the Church also had a series of properties that remained linked to it, such as monasteries, cathedrals or parishes of various sizes.

However, it should not be overlooked that this ownership link was a phenomenon that disappeared over the years. Specifically, we can establish that the end of that would begin during the stages of political and social revolution of the Modern Age.

Links on the Internet

On the Internet , the notion of linking refers to the possibility of navigating between different digital documents through the use of links (also known as hyperlinks , links , hyperlinks or links ).

Thanks to linking, the documents are united and the Internet user can go from one to another by simply clicking on the links.
