Via

Madrid

A road can be a street or avenue.

A road is a place through which one circulates or moves . The way, in this sense, is a path .

Before analyzing the term in depth, we are going to discover its etymological origin. In this sense we can state that the concept comes from Latin, and specifically from the word via which can be translated precisely as "way" .

What is a way

A road is the space that, in cities, allows people and vehicles to circulate and access the buildings that are located on their sides . Below the tracks is the infrastructure of public services such as the electricity network, telephone cables or drinking water.

Via can be used as a synonym for street , rúa , passage , avenue , path , promenade or avenue , among other terms, although each one usually has a more specific meaning (an avenue is a very wide street, for example).

Roads are cut by crossing other roads or by ending at some physical boundary, such as a public garden or square. It is possible to distinguish between the sidewalk or sidewalk (the place intended for pedestrians) and the road (where vehicles circulate) in the organization of a road.

An example

Starting from this meaning we have to emphasize that in Madrid there is a street known as Gran Vía that has become its most international street.

The fact that in it, which takes Alcalá Street as its starting point and Plaza de España as its ending, is the cultural core of said city, as it houses the largest number of cinemas and theaters, is what has given rise to be considered "Madrid's Broadway" .

Railway

The succession of metal bars that allow the wheels of a train to move is called the track.

railway tracks

A track is also a railroad track . In this sense, the track is formed by a succession of metal bars that allow the wheels of a train to move, acting as a guide, support and conductor of electrical energy.

In addition to these elements, it must be emphasized that it also has another important series of components such as the catenary , which is the overhead line through which the power supply in charge of powering the locomotives circulates; or signaling , which can be manual or mechanical, highlighting in the latter case that which works through lights such as traffic lights.

Other uses of the notion

In the same way, we cannot ignore that the concept of track is also widely used in the field of sports. In this sector, the aforementioned word is used to define, for example, in the mountaineering sector, the climbing itinerary that has been prepared to be developed by one of its corresponding professionals.

The conduits through which fluids circulate in living beings, the way to do or obtain something and the state chosen for existence are also known as path: "If our neighbors do not listen to our complaints, we will have to act by military means." » , «I already tried to negotiate with the owner, but we did not reach any agreement: the issue will continue through the courts» .
