Cowboy

Pastor

A cowboy is a shepherd dedicated to cattle.

Vaquero is a term whose first meaning that appears in the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) refers to what is linked to shepherds dedicated to cattle . A cowboy, in this sense, is one who takes care of and herds the cows.

For example: "My grandfather, in his youth, was a cowboy, but then he emigrated to the city" , "We have met four cowboys since we left town" , "Cowboys can walk for hours" .

Cowboys in different countries

In each country, cowboys are known by different names, among which we find cowboys , charros , gauchos , llaneros or huasos , to name a few possibilities.

In the case of cowboys, they are typical characters of American culture . The highly skilled horsemen who participated in the Civil War and faced the aborigines are known as cowboys: that is why films that deal with these themes are called cowboy films .

Within computer animated cinema, the most prominent and memorable character is without a doubt Commissioner Woody , a cowboy who has starred in the Toy Story saga films , and who has also appeared in some short films. His relationship with Buzz Lightyear , his friend, and Andy , his owner, are some of the common threads of his stories. Regarding his voice, it has always been provided by the acclaimed American actor Tom Hanks .

Denim

A type of pants is known as jeans.

The jean

Vaquero is also a type of pants that was formerly used by people dedicated to livestock and field work. This item of clothing, known in English as jeans , is widely used in cities today.

Jeans, which are made from a fabric called denim , can have different colors (since they are dyed ) and can be fastened with a zipper (closure) or buttons: "Could you iron my black jeans, please?" I would like to wear it to dinner tonight" , "The singer went on stage with jeans and a plaid shirt" , "I'm going to change into shorts : playing football with jeans is not the most advisable thing to do" .

The color with which jeans are generally associated is blue, and in fact in English there is the term blue jeans ( "blue jeans" ), which has been adapted to our language as blue jeans . This style of pants was invented in 1871 by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss & Co. , and patented two years later.

Cowboys throughout history

Initially, blue jeans were made exclusively for men, mainly for ranchers and miners, although almost a century later they became immensely popular in the city, among teenagers belonging to the subculture known as greasers (the term refers to the grease they used in their hair).

Hippies also adopted this style of pants in the '60s, and its popularity soon spread to punk rock and heavy metal lovers. There is no other item of clothing that has transcended time like jeans, since today they continue to be the preference of the majority of Western people in many of their informal activities.

The jeans that we can buy today come in various fits, such as tapered, slim, fitted, boot cut, straight, shiny, cigarette bottom, anti-fit, narrow bottom and low waist.

One of the most popular variations of jeans are “distressed” jeans, that is, those that appear worn over time, even if it is an item that has not been worn before. This fashion led to certain alterations to the manufacturing process, to simulate the aging of the fiber.
