Television is a system of remote transmission of images and sound through Hercian waves. In the case of cable television , transmission is carried out through a specialized network.

The notion of television arose with the combination of the Greek word tele ( "distance" ) and the Latin term visio ( "vision" ). The concept allows us to refer to both the transmission system and the device that allows the display of images (also called television ), television programming and the television station.

There are many television stations in the world. However, among the best known are the American NBC, the British BBC or the Spanish TVE.

Through these television channels and many others we have had a window to the world in our living room, which has allowed us, through it, to witness such important events as, for example, the arrival of man to the Moon.

Development of television

The development of television is very complex and has been going on for more than a century. The Nipkow disc , patented in 1884 , is considered the first television set. Later, cathode tubes, the tape recorder, digitalization, satellite transmissions, high definition and Internet television, among other advances, emerged.

The first televisions or televisions only transmitted black and white images. The next step was to create televisions with color screens , of different sizes. The last great advance was the development of flat televisions, with liquid crystal ( LCD ) or plasma screens.

It is worth mentioning that it is possible to watch television through a computer thanks to a tuner or capture card.
