Supplementary

Soccer

Extra time is time that is added to regular time so that a match can be broken.

Supplementary is an adjective that comes from supplement and refers to what is used to supplement or complete something . Supplement, for its part, is an idea linked to supply (replace or supplant a thing, reverse a lack). As a noun, it can be something that is added to something to perfect it or the special section of a newspaper or other publication.

In some sports , overtime (also known as overtime , extra time , extra time or overtime ) is a temporary extension of a match that is established as a tie-breaking method . The added time provides the possibility for one of the teams to break the tie and become the winner.

Supplementary in basketball and soccer

Basketball is one of the sports that does not admit equality, so any of its games may require an extra. In football , on the other hand, a supplementary match is only established in those eliminatory matches that must necessarily produce a winner. For example: "Peru beat Colombia with a goal in overtime" , "Manu Ginobili gave the Spurs the victory with a three-pointer at the buzzer of extra time" , "Ladies and gentlemen, we will go to overtime: Real Madrid and Barcelona They have equalized one to one in the 90 minutes of regulation" , "The game ended at dawn since two overtimes had to be played."

In the football field we have to emphasize that extra time is made up of two parts of fifteen minutes each . In the event that it is not possible to establish a winner of the match in said extra time, what is the famous and decisive penalty shootout will be accessed.

The latter consists of giving each team the opportunity to take five shots from the aforementioned penalty or penalty spot. Alternatively, the players chosen from both teams will take their corresponding penalty until the shootout is completed. The team that manages to score the most goals will be the one that will be declared the absolute winner of the contest.

In the event that it is not possible to break the tie even through the penalty shootout, what is known as sudden death will be reached. It consists of taking penalty shots alternately until one of the kickers misses and the other converts.

Angles

The supplementary angles add up to 180º.

A type of angle

For geometry , supplementary angles are angles that add up to one hundred and eighty degrees . If an angle measures 150º , its supplementary angle will measure 30º . Both angles will then add up to 180º , so it can be said that they are supplementary angles ( 150º + 30º = 180º ).

In addition to this hallmark established on the supplementary angles, it must also be emphasized that another of their characteristics is that their sinuses are the same. And all this without forgetting that in the case of cosines they have the same absolute value although they have the inverse sign.

Also within the field of geometry we have to highlight the fact that there is what is known as a supplementary arch . This can be defined as that arc of a circle that, when added to another, gives rise to two quadrants.
