Social

Community

Social is an adjective linked to the idea of society.

From the Latin sociālis , social is that belonging to or relating to society . Let us remember that society is understood as the set of individuals who share the same culture and who interact with each other to form a community .

In this sense, the social can provide a sense of belonging since it implies something that is shared at the community level. For example, the notion of social coexistence refers to the way the members of a society live together. Likewise, we would find ourselves with social pressure , which we can say is that forceful influence that society exerts on each and every one of the members that make it up.

Uses of the social adjective

The adjective social can be used to form different concepts. A social worker is a qualified person who is responsible for preventing or solving social difficulties through different procedures, advice, reports and financial help.

There is also what is known as social spending, that is, the amount of money that the government of a country or city dedicates to being able to cover and satisfy the basic and primordial needs of all its citizens.

In the same way we can talk about the so-called Social Security, which to a certain extent is closely related to the aforementioned concept. Specifically, this is a term that we use to define the organization that exists in a specific state and whose clear objective is to address the health and economic needs of its population.

And that is precisely where the concept of social security beneficiary arises, which is defined as the person who has the right to receive a certain benefit granted by the aforementioned Social Security.

Medical attention

Social works usually facilitate medical care for their members.

Classes, sciences and works

Social classes are made up of people who have similar customs, economic means and interests: "Our relationship is impossible: we belong to two different social classes."

The social sciences are those that are responsible for studying different aspects of the life and history of man : "Anthropology is a social science."

A social work is an entity that has charitable or non-profit purposes: "I must make an appointment at the social work to see my doctor."

The notion of social in companies

Finally, we can mention that the company name is the name by which a company is known collectively, anonymously or jointly. This is the formal name, rather than the brand known to the public: "Gamesoft is the trademark of Wonderful Actiland SA."

Within the business field, other terms are also used that are partly made up of the word that we are now analyzing. Thus, in addition to the above, there is what is known as social capital. This is a word that comes to define the entire set of goods, material, and money that the partners of a given company contribute to it so that it can function conveniently.
