Calling a person "brainy" may refer to his or her great intelligence.

The adjective sesudo is used to describe an individual who stands out for his common sense and prudence . A sesudo person tends to reflect and study before making decisions and to understand the essence of things .

Different uses

It is not only people who can be called brainy. The term is also applied to expressions, approaches, proposals, books and any other element in which significant intellectual or analytical work can be detected.

For example: “The scientist's thoughtful approach was followed with difficulty by the political leaders” , “The coach made a thoughtful analysis of the match, examining different tactical issues” , “I like thoughtful journalists, those who try to explain the causes and consequences of the news and do not limit themselves to communicating them as isolated facts” .

Both the first and second examples show a use of the word sesudo that refers to a thing, and not to a person. In the first, it is a statement made by a scientist in a context in which his interlocutors, a group of political leaders, are not able to fully understand it. The second, in this way, describes an analysis presented by a sports coach. In both cases, we must not forget that the person who wrote the ideas is also described by this term, even if only indirectly.

Finally, we have a sentence that highlights the work of journalists who are dedicated to thoroughly analyzing the news before transmitting it, instead of taking it as one-dimensional stories, lacking context. Those who approach their profession in a thoughtful manner use their brain beyond the instructions they receive from their superiors, analyze their possibilities before making a decision, reflect on the results they obtain at each step with the intention of improving. We could say that it is an attitude that benefits all the parties involved: it keeps the mind of those who exhibit it active, improves the performance of their companies and the products or services received by the consumer.

Good judgment

It can be said that a sensible person shows good judgment in his actions . Suppose a young man meets a friend on the street who invites him to go out that same night to the beach . At first, the young man is delighted with the idea, since he would like to take a break. However, he soon thinks about his academic and work obligations and considers that it would be unreasonable to suddenly abandon them because such a decision could bring negative consequences. So, sensible, he decides to reject his friend's proposal.

In this case, we can say that brainy acts as a synonym for different words, depending on the situation, among which are “practical”, “realistic” and “responsible”. The person who makes a decision like the one in the previous example is able to put reason before feelings for a few seconds to coldly analyze the situation, taking into account the potential consequences of his actions, and makes a decision that allows him to maintain balance in his life.

Great intelligence

It is also common to refer to someone who shows great intelligence or a broad cultural background as thoughtful: "After several years of work, a thoughtful geneticist made a transcendental discovery about how DNA works."

It should be noted that when we use the word brainy to refer to a person's intelligence or knowledge, we cannot always quantify this attribute. In other words, a compliment from a colleague of said geneticist, from someone who understands her work and can describe her scientific advances, is not the same as a compliment from someone completely unrelated to her field who simply reads about her in a newspaper and describes her as brainy .
