Seborrhea

Shampoo

Some shampoos can cause seborrhea.

Seborrhea is a pathological increase in the secretion of the sebaceous glands of the skin , accompanied by chronic inflammation that produces scales, itching and erythema of the affected area. This hypersecretion occurs in the scalp , which makes the hair greasy and can accelerate hair loss.

Originating from the Latin sebum , the notion of seborrhea may appear linked to pityriasis or seborrheic dermatitis . It can also be a symptom of seborrheic alopecia .

During childhood, sebum secretion is low; It then rises during puberty and reaches its maximum level in adulthood, only to decrease in old age. Hair greased by secretion becomes heavy, sticky and accumulates a lot of dirt. They can even have a bad smell due to sebum rust.

Causes of seborrhea

Among the causes of seborrhea , certain pharmacological treatments, nervous system imbalances, an unbalanced diet and hormonal factors can be mentioned. Environmental pollution, manipulations (such as running your hand through your hair ) and certain shampoos can also have an impact.

However, we cannot ignore the fact that there are two other factors that also often cause a person to suffer from seborrhea. The first of them is the genetic factor and it has been determined that this dermatitis can be transmitted from parents to children.

The second possible origin of it may also be the fact that the person in question habitually and abusively consumes various types of drugs . Specifically, it has been determined that the drugs that most accurately cause someone to suffer from this hair problem are those that fall within the amphetamine families.

Another of “grandma's” tricks that are also effective in alleviating this hair problem is washing your hair with a mixture of warm water and pure honey. About six months is the time it is stipulated that this operation must be carried out three days a week.

Drinking infusions such as horsetail and dandelion daily, rubbing your hair with corn flour or washing your hair with a mixture of water and lavender are other of the most popular traditional remedies.
