Women

The face is the face of the human being.

Face is a term in our language that comes from the Latin word rostrum . The most common use of this concept refers to the face of human beings.

For example: “Juani started crying because the ball hit him in the face,” “I fell and a mark was left on my face, just below my left eye,” “You could see the joy on the old man's face.”

What is the face

The face, therefore, is the frontal sector of the head , which extends between the forehead and the chin. The mouth , cheeks, nose, eyes and eyebrows are part of the face. Because the muscles found in the area allow the expression of emotions , the face is often taken as an indicator of a person's mood.

In this way, it can be said that an individual has a worried face or that he conveys sadness on his face: “I notice something strange on your face… are you hiding something from me?” , “Concern became evident on the woman's face” , “The news transformed her face” .

Relics of the Catholic Church

In addition to everything stated above, we cannot ignore the existence of what is known as the Holy Face , which is a set of relics that are considered pillars of the Catholic Church .

These are Christian relics that are parts of the so-called Veronica cloth , in which it is believed that it is possible to see the printed image of Jesus Christ since it was used by him to dry the sweat that fell from his face during the Via Crucis that ended with his death.

The term face in the title of movies

Within the cinematographic field, there are several productions that use the term in question in their titles:

  • “The face” . It is a 1958 Swedish film, directed by Ingmar Bergman , which tells the adventures of a company of artists whose highest representative is a hypnotist.
  • “Pale face.” It is a 1948 film, starring Bob Hope and Jane Russell . These were placed under the orders of filmmaker Norman Z. McLeod to tell the story of a dentist who, because of the love he feels for a problematic woman, ends up becoming a gunman.

Other uses of the concept

Face is also the name given to the beak of a bird and the anatomical structure of an arthropod that is similar to these beaks. By extension, in the field of human anatomy , the beak-shaped extension is called the face. The face of the sphenoid, in this sense, is a ridge that develops the sphenoid bone on its anterior surface.

In Ancient Rome , finally, the face was a balcony found in the main square of a city and which was used as a pulpit by orators to address the public .
