Definition of

RGB

Chromatic

A chromatic model is called RGB.

RGB is an acronym formed by the English language terms red , green and blue . The concept is usually used to refer to a chromatic model that consists of representing different colors from the mixture of these three primary colors.

The RGB model is based on what is known as additive color synthesis. Using the luminosity of red, green and blue in different proportions, the rest of the colors are produced. Computer monitors ( computers ) use additive color synthesis to represent colors.

The RGB model and colors

The main problem with the RGB model is that, by itself, it does not offer an exact definition of the three colors that constitute its essence. That is to say: different RGB models can use different shades of red, green and blue. Therefore, the colors resulting from additive synthesis will also vary according to the RGB model used.

The notion of RGB also appears in the color treatment carried out on certain video signals. In this case, the signals are divided according to color and transmitted independently. The result is higher quality playback.

Inevitably, when referring to RGB, we always tend to also refer to other acronyms: CMYK , which correspond to Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, or what is the same as cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Specifically, it is used within the field of photography to refer to a channel of colors that is based on what is the subtractive subtraction between colors to obtain others.

The RGB model is based on the combination of red, green and blue.

The concept in computing

In computing , several programming languages use the RGB model to represent colors.

These languages assign a value to the different colors: the higher the value, the greater the intensity in the mixture. A color, therefore, is made up of three values (one corresponding to red, another to green and the third to blue) that are specified in parentheses and separated from each other by commas.

«RGB», a travel magazine

In the same way, we cannot ignore that “RGB” is also the name of a travel magazine. It should be noted that it is the result of the work and drive of the Master in Travel Journalism from the well-known University of Barcelona and if it is called that it is because each of its issues is dedicated to a specific color.

It is considered that each color can be associated with values that identify the landscapes of a corner of the world, the hallmarks of the personality of its inhabitants or even the predominant tones in cities. Hence, based on that premise, each issue talks about cities, environmental enclaves or centers of countries that are represented with those colors.

Thus, for example, in the first installment, which was dedicated to green, articles were established about the spectacular New Zealand , a wonder of nature; while, in the second issue, focused on red, it focused on countries that represent the fury, passion and life of that tone, as would be the case of Spain .
