Rescue

A rescue can be a rescue.

The etymological origin of the term rescue is found in Latin. Thus, it comes from the sum of the prefix re- , which is synonymous with “intensity,” and the verb capere , which can be translated as “capture or catch.”

Rescue is the action and effect of rescuing (recovering by force or price something that passed into the hands of another). This verb also refers to freeing from danger , harm or annoyance .

For example: "The North American Government announced the rescue of two banks that were about to fail" , "The rescue of the mountaineers will be delayed until tomorrow due to the strong storms" , "The kidnappers ask for a ransom of one hundred thousand dollars to free the businessman" .

Payment of a ransom

A ransom may be the result of extortion . The kidnappers demand a payment as a ransom to free a person, an animal or a valuable asset that they have in their possession and that they promise to return after receiving the money : “The family paid the ransom and the man was released thirty kilometers from his home” , “They ask for a million-dollar ransom for a kidnapped dog,” “They told me not to file a complaint and to pay the ransom.”

This meaning can be perfectly understood by watching the movie “Rescue” , which was released in 1996 by director Ron Howard . Mel Gibson and Renne Russo are the protagonists of that film in which they play a married couple who suffer the kidnapping of their son by criminals. Two million dollars are what they are asking for to free the little one, a complicated case in which the parents will do everything in their power to get their child back.

Bird

Rescuing an animal can save your life.

A save and a game

Another use of the concept is linked to the rescue of people who are in a risk situation or in an emergency: “Gendarmery reported that the rescue of the miners will occur in the next few hours.”

In addition to all the above, we cannot ignore the fact that rescue is also a children's game similar to that of police and robbers, in which the two groups of children who enjoy it must take hostages from the opposing side. This way, they can then negotiate to get power in exchange for those prisoners.

The notion of rescue in the economy

In the field of economics , the injection of liquidity that is granted to an entity in the process of bankruptcy or close to it is known as a rescue so that it can meet its short-term financial obligations.

It is common for the rescue to be carried out by the Government : “Ireland refuses to help the banks and affirms that there will be no rescue” , “Small American taxpayers had to pay for the rescue of the large financial corporations” .

a rock band

Likewise, it is necessary to highlight the existence in Argentina of a rock band that is precisely called Rescate . In 1998, this group, which promotes itself as a Christian rock group, began its professional career.

More than a dozen albums have already been released, highlighting songs such as “It's not a question of luck” or “Amor que sobra” .
