Internal regulations

Rules

An internal regulation governs within an entity.

An internal regulation is a body of rules that regulate the operation of an organization . The regulation is "internal" since its postulates are valid inside the entity, but are not necessarily valid outside.

It should be noted that a regulation is an ordered set of rules that is valid in a certain context. For a regulation to exist, there must be a hierarchical scale and an authority with the power to enforce the established regulations.

Suppose that a company 's internal regulations indicate that employees must go to their workplace wearing a blue t-shirt. This means that, when going to work, people must wear that color. But, since it is an internal regulation, it does not mean that these same people have to wear a blue shirt on the street or, if they change jobs, in other companies.

Elements of an internal regulation

When it comes to ensuring that any company functions properly and creates a comfortable environment where all employees are comfortable and can perform their duties correctly, it is necessary to establish internal regulations. In this regard, it is considered that it must have a basic series of elements, in favor of coexistence and productivity , such as these:

  • The entry and exit time of all workers.
  • The rest periods that employees will have throughout the day.
  • The place where the work day should begin and end.
  • The time that is established so that they can carry out the meal.
  • The form of salary remuneration as well as the day it will be paid and the place where the payment will be made.
  • It is also important that the internal regulations include the disciplinary provisions and the way to carry them out.
  • The time and manner in which employees will have to undergo the relevant medical tests.
  • All the measures and indications that must be carried out in favor of hygiene and safety at work.
  • In the same way, it is necessary that this document, which all workers must know and have at their disposal when they deem it necessary, includes how the appointment of the members of the works council will be carried out.
Covenant

Whoever is part of an organization must accept its internal regulations.

The scope of the standards

The usual thing is that the internal regulations establish rules of coexistence . In a hotel , an internal regulation may establish what the rest time is (during which noise cannot be made) and how the room must be left when leaving it so that a maid can enter and clean.

Just as these regulations are internal , the sanctions will also take place within the organization. The employee who does not respect the company uniform may be punished by his boss, as well as the guest who disturbs during rest hours may receive some type of fine from the owner of the hotel establishment.
