A claim can be a complaint or an expression of disagreement.

To complain is to oppose something orally or in writing, expressing a complaint or disagreement. The action and effect of claiming is known as a claim or claim . For example: “I am going to file a complaint with the management since I am not satisfied with the attention they gave me” , “The company does not accept complaints once the customer has verified the quality of the product” , “The operator has received thousands of complaints regarding the increase in rates.”

It is worth mentioning that the term claim is common in Latin America , while in Spain the word claim is preferred. This can also be seen in the concept of "complaints sheet", used in Spain and equivalent to the Argentine "complaints notebook".

This resource, which some companies make available to their clients, allows them to file their claims. In other cases, the ways to make a claim are by email or by calling.

The claim as a right

The possibility of making a complaint is a consumer right , protected by various laws and regulations. Clients, users or buyers can express their disagreement when they consider that the product or service received does not meet their expectations due to errors on the part of the company.

Unfortunately, consumers do not always make fair use of their right to complain; In recent years, the expenses incurred by the volume of product returns to large international clothing store chains have been several million. The problem is that a worrying percentage of customers do not keep their end of the bargain; In other words, wear the items one or more times and then demand a refund.

Faced with this problem, some companies have begun to take somewhat aggressive measures, but surely more efficient when it comes to detecting scams: simply, the garments are delivered with a kind of plastic "lock" that once opened becomes unusable; In order to claim a refund, customers must not attempt to withdraw it. Will there be people capable of wearing a shirt or pants with an unsightly safety pin in order to satisfy their need to defraud a company?

Surely devices capable of opening said padlock without destroying it will be invented, or they will begin to be marketed illegally to encourage unfair claims. As with the rest of the rights, human beings do not know how to take advantage of them, we look for ways to abuse ourselves, to break the rules, and we only manage to make life in society more difficult.

In other areas, claims are usually related to the treatment received by one of a company 's employees; Such is the case of bars and restaurants. It is possible that a waiter is rude to the public and deserves a call to correct his manners; However, more than in other areas, gastronomic establishments tend to be the focus of a peculiar outpouring of frustration on the part of customers, who unfairly mistreat those who serve them, in an absurd attempt to feel powerful.

A market without the right to complain seems an unacceptable concept, but the abuse of power by consumers, along with numerous scams and thefts, does not represent an industry ideal either. It is difficult to find a balance between offering good service and preventing injustices on the part of customers, since the latter take place thanks to receiving special treatment, simply because tradition indicates it. The customer is always right; But who do you complain to if you make a mistake?

The call, a trained bird

Reclamo, on the other hand, is a trained bird that is used during hunting since, with its song, it attracts others of its species.

The concept is also used to name the device that imitates the sound of birds and that fulfills the same purpose (calling birds during hunting). The claim, therefore, is an instrument to help the hunter.
