A container allows you to store or contain something.
Container is a notion that has its origin in the Latin word recipĭens . This is a word that, in turn, derives from the verb recipere , which can be translated as "collect" or "receive" and is the result of the sum of two different parts: the prefix re- , which is used to indicate "repetition" , and the verb capere , which is synonymous with "take" or "take."
The first meaning of container mentioned in the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ) refers to that which receives something .
The most common use of the concept is linked to the element that allows something to be contained or stored . A container, therefore, receives a certain content and houses it inside. For example: «Can I have the cookie container, please? "I'm a little hungry," "The glass container fell to the floor and burst into a thousand pieces," "I'm going to collect all the screws in a container."
Types of containers
The containers have a cavity that allows liquids , solid elements or even gases to be introduced, according to their characteristics. Within what is understood as a container, very diverse objects enter, of different shapes and sizes and created with all types of materials.
There are containers made of glass , plastic , leather , metal , wood or porcelain , to name a few possibilities. They can be used in the domestic kitchen, in a commercial premises or in the industrial field.

Its use in the kitchen
The kitchen is one of the areas where we can find more types of containers. Thus, there are those known as tupperware , which are used to store food that is later stored in the freezer or taken with you to eat outside the home; the bowls , which can be used to prepare a salad or to eat cereals with milk; and measuring cups , which are used to hold any type of product in order to know how much of it needs to be used to make a dish, among others.
All this without forgetting that the most used in this field are saucepans , which can be used to cook eggs; the pots , which are used to prepare stews of various kinds; frying pans , which are intended to be able to roast or fry certain products, and clay pots , which are used to prepare specific dishes such as lamb or even rice.
Home and industrial containers
In a home, there may be containers that hold cereal , dried noodles, flour, cookies, or candy. The containers also serve to store small items, such as nuts and nails, or even to store bijouterie or jewelry, such as earrings, pendants or bracelets.
In addition to these small containers that we can find in a home, there are large containers that are used in industries , capable of containing tons of raw materials. If the material they store is potentially dangerous, the containers must meet certain safety requirements to avoid accidents.
Taking into account everything discussed so far, we cannot ignore that objects as diverse as a briefcase, a bathtub, a bottle , a urinal, a canteen, a plate , a storage tank or a fountain could be classified as containers.
