The first version of a device or product that is developed is called a prototype.
The notion of prototype comes from the Greek language. Specifically, it is the result of the sum of two components of said language:
-The prefix “protos-”, which can be translated as “the first”.
-The noun “types”, which is synonymous with “model” or “type”.

Typically, a prototype is used as a test before proceeding to mass production of the element in question. The purpose of a prototype is for its developers to be able to notice possible malfunctions and discover flaws. After the necessary testing and analysis of the prototype, the manufacturer will have the information it needs to begin general production.
The prototype can also be used as a model to be displayed. An automobile manufacturer, for example, may produce a futuristic car prototype to display at an exhibition. A prototype can also be developed by the Research Department of a company with the aim of convincing its managers about the importance of its manufacturing.

Within the field of couple relationships, the term prototype is also used. Specifically, it is used to refer to the characteristics that a person must possess so that another person can like them. An example would be the following: “Eva told us what her prototype of a boy is: tall, blonde, blue-eyed, thin and a sports lover.”
Precisely this interest in knowing what the most “in-demand” prototype of man or woman is has led to numerous studies and surveys being carried out in this regard. From this study it was revealed that English women consider their ideal partner prototype to be a normal man, with a body that does not have to be muscular and an ordinary look. And they consider that this is the one who can best serve as a couple and even father of their children.

Another use of the notion of prototype is associated with that which is an example or symbol of perfection. It can be said, in this sense, that the prototype of the 21st century basketball player is the American LeBron James : he is athletic, strong, fast and can score from all sectors of the field. Decades ago, players used to fulfill more static functions and had different physical characteristics.
In the field of computing , the model that is developed for software to reflect how a system behaves is known as a prototype. These prototypes are used to understand how the system in question works.
