To continue is to continue what was already being done.

Prosecution is a term originating from the word prosecutio that refers to the process and consequences of continuing . This verb , meanwhile, refers to prolonging or maintaining what had already been started .

If a candidate for the presidency of a country promises that, if elected, he will guarantee the continuation of public works already started, what he will be saying is that he will not interrupt the work in progress. On the contrary, this promise assumes that the works will continue to be developed.

One of the nuances of this term, which can be seen in certain contexts, indicates the willingness to continue along a path despite potential obstacles . In fact, in the RAE dictionary, the verb continue is defined as "continuing something that had been started" , and the last part of the definition refers to the fact that it is not about continuing with an indefinite activity but, on the contrary, , with something that has a beginning and an end .

Prosecution in different areas

Continuation can be used in various cases, although always with the idea of the search to complete something that we have started and that has a certain importance for us. For this reason, its use is not very appropriate when talking about actions such as walking or looking, for example, but it is suitable for speaking (especially when the words are part of a public discourse) or working.

A lawyer can ensure that he will take care of the prosecution of a legal case he is pursuing even if he suffers a setback in a certain instance. The lawyer insists that he will appeal to all the relevant organizations and chambers to prevent the case from being archived or being resolved against him, since he is convinced that he is right.

Another use of the term continuation may appear when an educator comments that the main challenge of his country's educational system is to achieve the continuation of studies until the tertiary or university level. The specialist believes that young people should not abandon training before reaching higher levels.

Pursuit can also be used, in certain contexts, as a synonym for pursuit , in the sense of trying to catch or achieve something. For example: “I commit to working to pursue the objectives set out in the last assembly” , “The pursuit of profitable businesses must be the purpose of this investment group” .

Justice

The idea of prosecution is used in the judicial field.

A legal principle

The rules that shape the trial of guarantees are represented by the so-called fundamental or constitutional principles of amparo , which serve to regulate each aspect of the origin of the amparo in order to know the way to process it, the effects that a certain sentence can have and the rules to achieve a resolution. Another name by which these principles are known is the guiding principles of protection .

The fundamental principles of protection are several, and among them we find the following: the origin of protection against acts of authority ; at the request of an aggrieved party; of the existence of a personal and direct grievance; of definitiveness; of strict law; of the relativity of the effects of the amparo ruling; of judicial prosecution.

The principle of judicial prosecution demands that any amparo trial be carried out taking into account all the rules that are inscribed in the constitution, as well as those that shape the amparo law . This principle guarantees that judges respect and comply with the legal provisions at all times every time they process the amparo, so that any trial goes through an equivalent procedure , without the judge being able to act arbitrarily when proceeding with the trial of guarantees.
