Software

Computer programs allow you to carry out multiple tasks.

The concept of program (a term derived from the Latin programma which, in turn, has its origin in a Greek word) has multiple meanings. It can be understood as the advance payment of what is planned to be done in some area or circumstance; the agenda offered for a speech; the presentation and organization of the materials of a certain course or subject; and the description of the characteristics or stages in which certain acts or artistic shows are organized.

A program also consists of a thematic unit developed during a television or radio broadcast, in addition to naming the group of instructions that allows a computer to develop different functions.

Computer program

In this sense, it must be said that a computer program or software is an essential element for the normal functioning of a computer. It can be either an executable program or its source code , which is written by programmers. On the other hand, according to its functions, a program can be classified as system software or application software.

In this technological field we can talk about a multitude of programs that aim to enable us to perform a specific task in a simple way. This would be the case of Word, which is a word processor that helps us create and design a multitude of textual documents, or PowerPoint that helps us develop very attractive visual presentations.

TV and radio cycles

As for the radio or television program , it is a set of periodic broadcasts that are grouped and identified under the same title and that offers content segmented by blocks.

Thus we can establish as examples various types of programs that exist on the schedules of any television in the world. A perfect classification could be one that talks about sports programs, current affairs programs, entertainment programs, heart programs or cultural programs, among many others.

"The War of the Worlds", an emblematic program

Among the most important radio programs in history is the one that Orson Welles did weekly on CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) and which consisted of dramatizing and interpreting various literary narratives. It is important because one day that director and actor was performing the play The War of the Worlds , by GH Wells, which talked about the alien invasion of Earth. This was taken to play a Halloween prank on listeners and presented to them as something real.

It is said that many people turned on the radio and believed at face value what a scientist was supposedly telling them about the debacle that was coming because of the Martians. A fact that led to a real situation of panic in both New York and New Jersey.

Development Cooperation Initiative

Finally, it should be noted that a development program is an expression that allows identifying the set of actions that are organized with the purpose of improving living conditions in a certain region. These programs are also known as economic and social development.

There are different international cooperation agencies that support and finance development programs in the poorest nations on the planet.
