The concept of pigsty comes from porcilĭca , a Latin word. The Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE ), in its dictionary , indicates that the term can be used to refer to the stable for pigs .
It is important to mention that a stable is a covered place where animals are confined to feed and rest. Swine, on the other hand, refers to pigs , also known as pigs or pigs .
A pigsty, therefore, is an establishment where the raising of a pig takes place. Following the advance of industrialization in the production of this livestock and within the framework of a new conception of health, traditional pigsties were replaced by other types of farms.
Although it may seem incredible, we have to emphasize that throughout history there are many artists who have been 'inspired' by a pigsty to shape their works of art. A good example of this is that these spaces for pigs are represented in paintings by artists such as the Belgian David Teniers the Younger (1610 - 1690), the German Max Liebermann (1847 - 1935) or the Dutchman Paulus Potter (1625 - 1654). .
Through an analogy , any small, smelly place is called a pigsty. A dirty and small environment , in this framework, can be referred to as a pigsty.
Suppose a man books a room at a hotel . The subject does not know about said accommodation, but discovers it through the Internet and makes his reservation via the Web. Upon arriving at the hotel in question, you find a room without adequate hygiene and with humidity problems on the walls. In addition, the bedding has holes and stains and the television does not work. Faced with this reality, the guest communicates with his family and tells them that the room is a pigsty .
In the same way, for example, a mother can refer to her child's room with that term. Thus, you can say: “Manuel, tidy up and clean your room. "It's a real pigsty."
“Pigsty” , finally, is a film directed by the Italian Pier Paolo Pasolini . This film , whose original title is “Porcile” , was released in 1969 .
It stars actors such as Pierre Clémenti, Alberto Lionello, Jean-Pierre Léaud and Ugo Tognazzi.
This film tells two stories in parallel. On the one hand, that of a man named Julián who refuses to marry his girlfriend as a way to protest the business his father is doing with the Nazis. On the other hand, that of a cannibal who is looking for human food.
In addition to all of the above, we cannot ignore the fact that there is a book that has the term that concerns us now in its title. We are referring to “The pigsty and other stories”, which has the subtitle “Between love and death and other poems”.
It is a work by several authors that was published in 2011 and which includes the works participating in the XIX Short Story Contest and the X Poetry Contest of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
