Top

The top of an elevation is called a peak.

Pico is a term with very diverse meanings, which means that we can find this word in different areas. On the one hand, it can be the top or summit of an elevation , especially when it ends in a point .

For example: “Reaching the peak of that mountain must be an arduous task” , “The Chilean mountaineer set a new record by reaching the peak in just fifty-three minutes” , “Researchers observed, with long-range glasses, that a family of eagles “It settled on the peak of the mountain range.”

Highest peaks in the world

Mount Everest

It is the highest mountain on the entire planet, with its maximum point at 8,844 meters. It is located in the Asian mountain range called the Himalayas , which passes through the following countries: India, Bhutan, China and Nepal (the latter two find their border in the Himalayas). The name of this peak was chosen in honor of George Everest , a geographer and surveyor from Wales who carried out important studies; In Nepal it receives a name that can be translated as "the forehead of heaven" , while in China they call it "mother of the universe" .

K2

This mountain also belongs to the Himalayas , more specifically to a section of it called the Karakoram mountain range , which is located on the border that divides Pakistan and China. Regarding its height, it has nothing to envy of Everest , since it measures 8,611 meters and is considered the most complicated to climb. This difficulty, added to the fact that it is the second in number of deaths among the brave who dare to climb it, has earned it the nickname "the wild mountain." Statistically, for every four climbers who attempt to scale this peak, one loses their life . It is worth mentioning that no one has climbed K2 in winter.

Kanchenjunga

It is the third highest mountain in the world, at 8,586 meters high, in addition to being the highest in India and the second in Nepal . Its name, which can also be found as Kangchenjunga , Kanchenjanga and Kangchanfanga , among other versions, can be translated as "the five treasures of the snow" , due to the five peaks that comprise it, four of which exceed 8,450 meters.

Lhotse

At 8,516 meters high, this peak is in fourth place worldwide. Since it is very close to Everest , many mountaineers have ignored it in favor of venturing to climb the latter. It currently has one route on its west side and five on its south side.

Bird

The mouth of a bird is called its beak.

Other uses of the term

A beak is also a point that emerges from some type of surface or is on the edge of something. The concept, on the other hand, refers to the completion of a bottle or container that allows its contents to be poured in a simple way: “Do not drink directly from the spout: here is a glass” , “The child hit himself with the spout of the tap and "He hurt his head."

There is, on the other hand, a tool known as a pick, which has points and is held by a handle. The pickaxe is used to break rocks or make holes in very hard surfaces: “When I was young I worked in a quarry: I was with the pickaxe and shovel all day,” “The police believe that the murder weapon could have been a pickaxe.” ” .

The unknown sum or that exceeds a round figure is also called peak: “We spent two hundred and something pesos on drinks for the party” , “The price of the book was thirty something, I don't remember it precisely” .

In birds and other types of animals , finally, the beak is the mouth . It is formed by the jaws and allows the processing of food: “Look how that bird takes bread with its beak” , “The seagull carried a fish in its beak” .
